The 18-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert was apprehended in Colorado for alleged theft of identity documents, among other charges, as stated by Rifle police.
Tyler Jay Boebert was arrested on Tuesday and is confronting four felony counts of criminal possession of identity documents, one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony, and over 15 other counts for misdemeanor and petty offenses.
Authorities stated they have no additional details to provide as the investigation continues. Tyler Jay Boebert was released from Garfield County Jail on Wednesday, as indicated by county records.
Representative Lauren Boebert, a prominent figure in the Republican Party since her 2020 election in a Colorado district, released a statement expressing support for her son, one of her four children.
“I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for,” the statement said.
Lauren Boebert, seeking re-election in November, shifted districts after a close win in 2022. The Boebert family has been in the spotlight lately. An altercation involving Lauren and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert occurred at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, on January 6, drawing police attention.
Initially alleging assault, Jayson Boebert later retracted his claim, as per KOAA television news, referencing an arrest affidavit. Subsequently, police stated the investigation against Lauren Boebert was terminated due to insufficient evidence. Jayson Boebert faced his own legal troubles shortly after.
The Colorado Sun, citing court documents, reported his arrest on domestic violence charges arising from a separate incident. Allegedly, on January 9, Jayson Boebert assaulted Tyler Boebert and seized a rifle after the teenager contacted authorities, according to court documents.
Andrew Nolan, the attorney representing Jayson Boebert, was reportedly present in court but unavailable to provide a statement on behalf of his client, according to a receptionist at his law office.
