Only a few artists or groups have gathered crowds, as RBD did in the early 2000s when they had full stadiums and arenas for their concerts all around the world. Now, twenty years later, they are ready to do the same magic once again. Mexico’s famous musical group RBD starts their reunion tour on Friday in El Paso at the Sun Bowl stadium.
The group was made up for a TV show called “Rebelde” in Mexico in the early 2000s, but then they became a real music sensation. The “Yo Soy Rebelde” tour reunites the artists Anahi, Dulce Maria, Christian Chavez, Maite Perroni, and Christopher von Uckermann for the first time since they separated a group in 2008.
Dulce Maria posted on her Instagram that she could not sleep. She shared a picture that seemed to show the stage being set up at the Sun Bowl for the concert. She expressed her disbelief that this story is still cherished in their hearts even after 15 years. She also sent blessings to all those who are coming to see them perform!
RBD ‘Yo Soy Rebelde’ world tour marches on from El Paso to Houston
RBD’s biggest and most well-liked song was the theme song of the TV show. The show was made by Televisa and was on TV from 2004 to 2006. In the show, the band members acted as students who came together to create a band while they were studying at a fancy private school in Mexico City.
Tickets for the Sun Bowl concert found on Ticketmaster.com cost between $89 and $471 before adding taxes and fees. After that, RBD will perform at Minute Maid Park in Houston on August 27 and at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 31.
RBD’s world tour is making waves all around
The last time RBD went on tour, they made a lot of money, about $72.5 million, by selling over 1.5 million tickets to their shows. Billboard Boxscore reported these numbers.
On the Billboard charts, RBD had seven different albums on the Billboard 200 chart, including Rebelde, Celestial, and Nuestro Amor. They also had eight albums on the Top Latin Albums chart, and six of them reached the top 10. On the Hot Latin Songs chart, the band had a total of 10 songs listed, and five of those reached the top 10.
Perroni tells Billboard in a candid conversation earlier this year that after 20 years, they are ending a very important and amazing chapter of their lives.
This time, their goal is to have a lot of fun, to share their gratitude with everyone, and to properly bring closure to something that they did not feel was complete last time. They did have a tour to say goodbye before, but it did not feel like a real farewell.
In this tour, Anahí, Dulce María, and Perroni will be going around as mothers. Anahí has two children, Dulce María has one, and Perroni had her first child earlier this year.
Perroni stated that she is getting ready for this new part of her life, which will be both tough and exciting. Her friends Anahí and Dulce María, who already know about being moms, will help her and give her advice.
Perroni expressed her excitement to Billboard, saying it is a fresh start that fills them with happiness. It is a new chance to perform together on stage, feeling a special kind of excitement.
She further said that, in life, there are different stages, and each of them had to concentrate on their acting and music careers. This required giving those projects a lot of time, effort, and commitment. It also gave them the chance to develop in their work and personal lives. Perroni expresses that the moment for the reunion is just right because they are more aware and grown-up. They will appreciate it from a new point of view as adults.
