Jude Bellingham traveled to Sunderland last Saturday to watch his younger brother, Jobe, play.
In the footballing galaxy, Jude Bellingham, the football prodigy who has captured the attention of the world, is not just a bright star but a constellation. Even at the young age of 20, the Real Madrid phenomenon has established a reputation for excellence on the field.
Bellingham made the move from the Birmingham academy to the prestigious La Liga grounds with ease, spending £89 million to join the storied Spanish team.
Jobe is one of the most promising young players in the competition
After going on an incredible goal-scoring rampage in La Liga, the 20-year-old Real Madrid star temporarily left sunny Spain to be with his family in the UK.
He is currently on winter break. England’s own Galactico gave his break a personal touch by going to the Stadium of Light to watch his 18-year-old sibling play in the Championship against Coventry City.
From the directors’ box, Bellingham watched the game, grinning and appearing to record his brother’s 22nd league appearance of the year on his phone.
With four goals and an assist this season in the Championship, Jobe is one of the most promising young players in the competition. He followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Jude, who moved to Real Madrid for £89 million, by moving to the northeast from Birmingham City in the summer.
Returning to the starting lineup for the game on Saturday, Jobe replaced the ill Alex Pritchard on the field before Michael Beale made his coaching debut.
Jobe followed Jude’s path, graduating from the Birmingham academy and making his first team debut at the age of sixteen. But by picking the Championship over the Bundesliga and putting only his first name on the back of his jersey, he’s forging his own route.
Jude will play again against Mallorca after the new year with the intention of continuing his incredible play, which has seen him record 17 goals and five assists in 21 games so far this season.
