There is a lot in Season 2 that has happened, and well, it ended with a lot of questions. First, let us talk briefly about what the show offers.
Raised By Wolves is about a planet like Earth. It is called Kepler-22B. We see that our Earth has been destroyed because of religious beliefs. People have destroyed everything around them because of religion. Now, the creator sends two creations, namely Mother and Father, to this planet, where they start their own society. This society does not have a religion or God. They start afresh. Will the society survive, or will humans again make the mistake of creating and dividing people on the basis of religion?
Now, talking about the release date of Season 3 of Raised By Wolves., if you are one of the fans who are wondering when the new Season is going to air, you are at the right place. Let us find out the release date of Season 3 of Raised By Wolves and also have a look at a little recap before we jump onto the upcoming Seasons.
What Is Raised By Wolves About?
The story is about an atheistic robotic builder. He sends two creations, Mother and Father, to start a peaceful and godless colony on the planet Kepler-22b. The creator does it so because Earth has been split apart by religious disputes, and the human race is on the verge of annihilation. In short, the series follows Mother and Father as they strive to raise human children in this new unknown virgin territory. We know what condition we are going through on Earth. We have divided because of religion. People here are fighting like anything, and it is inevitable that the whole situation is going to go south.
Coming back to the series, the new planet without God is a treacherous endeavor. It is made more difficult when the Mithraic, who is a fiercely committed religious order of surviving humans, arrive. As the ‘androids’ come into contact with these dangerous people, they battle to maintain control over their fiercely independent children’s views.
Who Are Mother And Father?
Mother and Father are gynoid and android. They leave Earth that has been damaged by religious people in the 22nd century. Mother and Father go to colonize the planet Kepler-22B, bringing 12 human kids with them to form a new society. When the two androids land in a hard, semi-desert location, they build a small town. Now, Mother connects to the artificial umbilical cords found in the colonization module to allow six fetuses to grow.
Nine months later, we see the children are born. One of them first appears to be stillborn. Mother and Father name him Campion. The name is after their creator, who inspired them to start a new healthy society. Campion, on the other hand, was the only one who lived another 12 years.
A Little Recap To What Happened In The Previous Seasons Before Jumping Onto Raised By Wolves Season 3
We see, at the end of the Second Season, Grandma is an Android. She has lived on Kepler-22B since the end of humanity. Grandma is said to be responsible for the evolution of humans on the planet, or so we are made to believe. She has stated repeatedly since her reactivation that preserving humanity’s eternal life is her top goal.
However, Grandma argues that humans will only be able to do this if compassion and sensitivity are removed. She appears to be transforming six children into sea monsters using her holo games. We also see Campion cleverly copying the final mission he gets. He copies it onto cloth using the juice of squeezed berries, and at Vrille’s grave, he snatches one last look at her ruined face. The face is mutated by serpent flies, reminding him and the audience that there’s a giant, flying mutated serpent we need to look out for.
Serpent And The Key To Dealing With It
Over the last few Episodes of Raised By Wolves, we get to know that Grandma may hold the key to dealing with the serpent. Mother has summoned Marcus before her. We also hear a little about ‘The Entity’, the power everyone has been mistaking with Sol. On the other hand, Grandma makes a passing remark to Marcus about how his wounded psyche makes him sensitive to the Entity’s signal.
Now, Marcus’s presence irritates Father, and the idea of Mother using Grandma’s veil to kill no.7 irritates him even more. However, Mother assures Father that everything will be fine because Grandma has assured her that it will not cloud her mission objectives or confuse her loyalties to Father and their human children. At this point, though, the audience does not believe so.
Now we know that androids have the ability to change human DNA in some way after viewing what the supercomputer The Trust did to Paul. The audience observes that the children are going through a sort of similar procedure, with Campion complaining about dry skin on his hand. However, all of them think it is because the EMF field above them which is failing and exposing them to the elements. Of course, that was not the case. It was actually due to the crude video game Grandma forced them to play. Now that Necro Slayer has become tedious, the rest of the colonists are anxious to play this new video game. Also, Grandma has ‘Mother’ locked away in virtual reality, so she is unavailable to assist any of them.
Wondering What ‘The Entity’ Is?
The audience is familiar with the fact that Colonists and Androids are both confronted with radical images and voices in their thoughts. These sounds and images have been understood by the Mithraic on the planet from Sol, their religion’s god. Also, Sue is able to save Paul through a supernatural inspiration. Marcus’s divine inspiration attracts a large following towards him.
However, the problem is that these voices and visions almost always have a negative connotation. Sue transforms herself into a tree. Marcus is left with nothing. On the other hand, Mother, too, is duped into giving birth to Seven. Rather than blaming all of the havoc on Sol, Mother has begun to blame it on an unknown ‘Entity’.
This ‘Entity’ and its long-term plans are unknown. However, they appear to be complicated and difficult. It is not easy to simply give birth to Seven or transform Sue into a tree. Also, to break the EMF field, Seven must actually eat the tree that is Sue! It is all so complicated and not easy to comprehend. We do not have many details on what or what ‘The Entity’ is. However, we will learn a lot more about it in the upcoming Seasons.
How Does The Season End?
Midway through the last Episode, a Mithraic Mysteries disciple bursts into the atheist camp to take the punisher’s helmet. It is meant to incapacitate and punish inmates. Later, when Marcus goes to a hole in the ground in search of The Entity, Lucius is waiting for him and shoots in the stomach.
However, Lucius knew Marcus would be there. How? Well, because Sol told him so. Now, Lucius now has the task of assassinating Marcus in a particularly heinous manner. He hangs Marcus upside-down from a tree in a reverse crucifixion stance after placing the punisher’s helmet on his head. Lucius then proceeds to remove Marcus’s body, and after being satisfied with enough blood rushing out of his body, Lucius rushed to his head to kill him.
Wait, there is a twist. Marcus’s body is nowhere to be found. Marcus is seen floating in mid-air like an upside-down Christ in the Season’s final minutes. We have already mentioned how ‘The Entity’s’ plans are lengthy and complex. What roles does Marcus play in these plans? We have to wait and see. Also, it is possible that this was not The Entity but rather Sol himself. Whatever the case might be, we hope to get a few answers.
What Can The Fans Expect From Raised By Wolves Season 3?
We know that Mother’s situation, and that of any of her children, does not appear to be improving. Mother has become Grandma’s prisoner by the end of Season 2, confined in a prison-like simulation. Most of the important characters are in jeopardy as a result of plans to degenerate the youngsters into something subhuman. However, as the old saying goes, you can’t keep a good Necromancer down. So, in Season 3 of Raised By Wolves, we can expect to see Mother navigate and eventually escape Grandma’s captivity.
Also, in Season 3, Marcus will most likely return as a ‘Christ-like’ figure possessed by The Entity. Along with that, we might get answers to the questions we asked earlier, who is The Entity. Also, will Marcus’s return be a sign that he will be lost like Sue?
