On Wednesday, Rachel McAdams had an interview with Variety where she shared a bunch of things related to her recent launch, “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret”. During the same conversation, she also made a comment about not being a part of the Walmart commercial, which featured the characters Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and more from Tina Fey’s 2004 penned movie Mean Girls.
On being asked about the absence of McAdams’s character Queen Bee from the iconic movie, the actress said, “I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest.” Further, McAdams said, “I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag,” to the outlet.
Why was Rachel McAdams not a part of the Walmart commercial along with others?
The actress was unaware of the small reunion of the Mean Girls in the Walmart commercial, which included her and other castmates. According to the actor, she wasn’t aware of the participation of Lohan, Seyfried, and Chabert, her “fellow plastics,” in the commercial.
On expressing her opinion on being a part of it, she said, “I would, of course, always love to be part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my Plastics.” The actress added, “But yeah, I found out later.” Rachel McAdams, who played the role of Queen Bee Regina George in Mean Girls, directed by Mark Water, told Variety that it wasn’t up her alley to do commercials; instead, “a movie sounded awesome.”.
When questioned about her cameo in the upcoming Mean Girls movie musical, McAdams said she and Frey never filmed one. The actress also added, “Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end; I was really down for whatever she wanted to do.”
Adding more about the new adaptation of the Broadway musical, she said, “I think the direction it went in will be fantastic, and I cannot wait to see it.”
McAdams as Margaret in the year’s “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret?” has done a phenomenal job and has made its way to nominations among critic groups. Rachel McAdams accepted the role of a “sexy mom” in Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret is an adaptation of the Judy Blume classical novel. as she was a fresh second-time mom with a daughter. It has already won at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.
The Reunion of Mean Girls
The commercial features the characters of the 2004 hit film ‘Mean Girls’ showcasing the holiday deals at Walmart scene of the Ionic movie.
It gives a bleak view of the characters from the movie, featuring the North Shore High School characters as adults. The small reunion includes Cady Heron, aka Lohan, as a guidance counselor; Gretchen Wieners, aka Charbet, a needy stage mom; and Karen Smith, aka Seyfried, who has pursued her career as a clueless weather reporter.
Among other characters, Kavin Gnapoor (Rajiv Surendra) and Damian (Daniel Franzese) also made an appearance in the ad.
After the commercial, which was like a reunion of the Mean Girls stars, Lohan had a talk with the people, where he said, “It was so nice being back together after all these years.” He also said, “It was great catching up with everyone.”. Similarly, Chabert, while commenting on her experience, added, “It was wonderful to spend the day with Amanda and Lindsay, and it was so much fun getting to reminisce and to be together again.”
Paramount Pictures has announced the release of the Broadway-to-screen Mean Girls musical in theatres on January 12, 2024. It has starred Renée Rapp, Angourie Rice, Jon Hamm, Ashley Park, Busy Philips, Auli’i Cravalho, and Fey.
