Queen Sugar Season 7: Cast & Plot
After seven seasons, the show is all set to provide the closure fans have been waiting for. The cast of this season includes Rutina Wesley, Kofi Siriboe, Nicholas L. Ashe, Bianca Lawson, Tina Lifford, Omar J. Dorsey, Henry G. Sanders, and Ethan Hutchinson. Dawn-Lyen Gardner, who played the role of Charley, will not be returning as a regular on the show. Queen Sugar focuses on the lives of three siblings: Nova Bordelon, Charley Bordelon, and Ralph Angel Bordelon. After their father’s demise, these three are forced to deal with his sudden death while also figuring out what to do with his sugar cane farm. Their dad left his 800-acre farm for these siblings to handle, but they all have their own life as well. Nova is a formidable journalist and activist from New Orleans. Charley is a working woman.
Aside from her professional life, she is also a mother. Ralph, the youngest of the three, is a single parent struggling with unemployment while raising his son alone. Charley’s husband was having a scandalous affair, so she left him to move back to Louisiana with her teenage son, Micah. Recently divorced, Charley is determined to operate the farm.
Queen Sugar Season 7: Recap
Queen Sugar season 7 has been quite a dramatic season so far. The first episode, titled And When Great Souls Die, followed the family as they attended a christening for Tru. Tru is Ralph and Darla’s baby. Billie ignores Vince’s calls repeatedly. Prosper asks Sandy on a date, and Micah, on the other hand, sees Keke. Sam Landry brings news that might shake the Bordelons again.
Micah is pursuing a career in photography, but maybe he’s getting a bit distracted. Billie contemplates her future with Vince while Ralph receives an unsettling call about Parthena. The City Council has voted on developing the outlet mall, but will they succeed? Ralph has been disturbed, but he just won’t ask for help. He didn’t listen to Trinh and Darla, but when Hollywood confronted him, he acknowledged that he might have been wrong.
This makes us wonder why he wouldn’t listen to women but only a man. Darla has been with him, by his side, for so long, but he doesn’t even give her the credit she rightfully deserves. Meanwhile, Nova seems to care about Dominic, but she is afraid that her behavior is any proof. She is still keeping one foot out the door, and even Dominic knows it, but what will these two do to end that?
Darla runs into an old friend in D.C. while Nova is still delaying talking to her family about her book that might be getting adapted into a movie. Meanwhile, Violet takes Joaquin and his brother Dante into her home.
There’s a lot that must happen before we get to our final goodbye, but for now, we are wondering what will happen in Queen Sugar’s next episode. Will Micah realize what he did was wrong? Will Chase return to upend Darla’s life? Will Ralph’s presence in Vi’s house cause trouble? And how will everyone react when Nova finally reveals about wanting her book to be turned into a movie? We really can’t wait to learn what’s next in store for these people.
