Reclusive Quebec billionaire Robert G. Miller was arrested at his home in Montreal’s Westmount neighborhood. He faces 21 charges, including sexual assault, obtaining sexual services for consideration, and several counts of sexual exploitation of minors, allegedly involving payment to young girls for sexual favors.
Robert G. Miller is alleged to have committed offenses against 10 women and girls, with eight of them being minors, between 1994 and 2016.
One victim was reportedly under 14 years old at the time of the alleged offenses. Miller, who is 80 years old and suffering from late-stage Parkinson’s disease, was released with conditions and is set to appear in court on July 3.
The investigation by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is ongoing, and they are urging any additional victims to come forward.
The charges against Robert G. Miller are the result of a year-long police investigation initiated after a CBC/Radio-Canada investigation aired in February 2023.
Following the broadcast, additional victims came forward, prompting the SPVM to reopen the investigation.
In a written statement, Robert G. Miller maintained his innocence and vowed to fight the allegations, suggesting that the motive behind the case is financial gain at his expense.
He expressed disappointment that charges were brought forward despite his health preventing him from defending himself.
Allegations against Miller surfaced last year after reports from Radio-Canada’s Enquête and CBC’s The Fifth Estate, detailing claims from women who said they were paid for sexual services as minors, some as young as 14, and allegedly received cash, designer clothes, and incentives to recruit others.
Robert G. Miller has consistently denied the allegations made against him, and his lawyer has refrained from commenting on the criminal accusations.
“It was time. Every morning I woke up and wondered: ‘Will it be today?'” said one of the alleged victims, who says she feels extremely relieved. “Now it’s true, finally we are believed.”
While she said she’s sad to see the number of alleged victims, she always suspected there would be many.
“I’d like him to plead guilty, out of respect for all of us.”
