Well, it is safe to say that he has no idea what he is doing. He has been talking with Addison a lot, and it is obvious that it might create troubles for him. Ben might even get pulled in for a psych evaluation within minutes.
Although he is safe now, it is still a risky business to be a part of. On the other hand, it is really making the fans curious to see if anything would become different if they make some significant changes to the life of XO Augustine.
At the same tim3, Captain Drake and the history around him have already been altered forever. This happened when they set the rescue of the USS Tampa in the right direction. This means that the fate of the rescued families has also been changed, and it will now all be different.
Now, we witness that Captain Drake is not actually in a good place right now. He is mentally incapable of making better decisions for the team as they have been affected by a deep sense of personal loss he has recently endured.
