The new series picks up thirty years after the conclusion of the original. This time, Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) leaps into the past, abandoning his team to figure out how to undo whatever changes occur along the way.
Dr Sam Beckett disappeared over thirty years ago when he went onto the Quantum Leap accelerator. In an attempt to unravel the riddles surrounding the gadget and its creator, physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee) has brought together a new team to resume the research.
But when Ben takes an unapproved jump into the past and abandons the team to figure out why he did it, everything changes. Ben has Addison (Caitlin Bassett), a hologram that only Ben can see and hear, by his side during all of his leaps. She is a seasoned Army veteran who approaches her work with calm precision.
Herbert “Magic” Williams (Ernie Hudson), a tough-minded career military guy who must answer to superiors who will not be pleased when they find out about the protocol violation, is in charge of the extremely secret mission. The remaining members of the team are Jenn Chou, who oversees the project’s digital security, and Ian Wright, who manages the Artificial Intelligence division, “Ziggy,” at the headquarters.
Ben and the gang are clearly on an exciting trip as they jump from life to life, fixing what went wrong in the past. But Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn are aware that they have to move quickly or else they will lose Ben forever in their attempt to unravel the riddle surrounding his leap and return him home.
Recap
Rachel reports to Gideon. He also obviously instilled a great deal of dread in the players from the first minute of his arrival. Maybe it’s not because he feels threatened to hurt them physically. Conversely, given that Ben would suddenly have a route home, this could simply be connected to the theory that he could alter the program.
It’s likely that as the season draws to a close, we’ll get to see a little bit more of Gideon in episodes that undoubtedly have a lot of unanswered issues at their core.
