Euphoria Season 3 has been delayed at HBO.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
The writing process for Season 3 is ongoing. This update follows a previous report announcing the cancellation of the entire third season.
Production for the third season of the show faced significant delays, partly due to Hollywood strikes and the passing of Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fez. The burgeoning careers of cast members like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer also complicated scheduling.
HBO confirmed in November 2023 that the third season was slated for a 2025 release, resulting in a three-year gap since Season 2 aired in January 2022.
Speculation arose that Season 3 would incorporate a five-year time jump due to the extended hiatus.
During a January interview, Elordi humorously suggested that Season 3 would need to be set in the future to avoid seeming peculiar.
“I hope it’s soon, or they’re going to have to Benjamin Button me or something,” he said. “I’m going to have a bad back walking down the hallway, you know?”
Euphoria” features a talented ensemble cast including Maude Apatow, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Nika King, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, and Austin Abrams.
The series revolves around Rue (Zendaya), a teenage drug addict navigating sobriety and high school life post-rehab.
While praised for performances—Zendaya clinched two Emmys for her portrayal—the show has faced criticism for its explicit content and depiction of substance abuse.
