Six years after Scandal ended, President Fitzgerald Grant made a return for one night only. This week, the stars of the show, Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn, attended the Democratic National Convention.
They shared a photo on social media celebrating their reunion. In the series, Goldwyn played a president whose views would likely match those of Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, even though his character was a Republican.
Washington posted a photo on social media with the caption “giving people what they want,” suggesting it would be exciting if Grant were a real-life candidate.
In the show, Grant was the 44th President of the United States and was popular enough to win re-election, despite significant drama surrounding his candidacy and victory.
What Happens With Fitz and Olivia In The End of Scandal?
Fitz’s campaign succeeded only after Olivia Pope (played by Washington) became involved. Olivia, a top communications director, is known for handling even the toughest PR challenges.
She was credited with helping Fitz reach the Oval Office and also played a key role for his successor, Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young). However, Olivia and Fitz’s romantic involvement put their careers in jeopardy.
In the final season of Scandal, Fitz’s Democratic leanings caused conflict with his party and his wife, Mellie. This led to him becoming the first president to divorce the First Lady while in office.
Olivia became Mellie’s powerful ally, managing unpopular decisions for the President. “Olitz” fans were pleased when Season 7 ended with the couple finally overcoming their drama and finding happiness in Vermont.
After Scandal, Goldwyn appeared in several films, including King Richard and the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer. He also joined the cast of the long-running series Law & Order.
Washington starred in the acclaimed Prime Video series Little Fires Everywhere and currently leads in Hulu’s sitcom UnPrisoned. You can stream all seasons of Scandal now.
