Director Lee Chang-dong is officially making his long-awaited return to filmmaking with Possible Love, his first feature in eight years. Following the film’s selection for its World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival and North American Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Netflix has confirmed its global release schedule while unveiling the movie’s teaser key art.
Possible Love will debut in select theaters on October 23 before launching worldwide on Netflix on November 6. The Korean drama brings together an all-star cast featuring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, making it one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year.
Known for acclaimed works such as Burning, Poetry, and Secret Sunshine, Lee Chang-dong has built a reputation for crafting emotionally layered stories that explore human relationships with remarkable subtlety. His latest project continues that tradition, focusing on two married couples whose lives become increasingly intertwined as hidden emotions begin to surface.
Possible Love explores hidden desires between two very different couples
At the center of Possible Love are two families living vastly different lives. Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) lives a modest life with her laid-off husband Ho-seok (Sul Kyung-gu) and their young son, Cheol. Their ordinary routine changes after attending a funeral, where they meet Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong), a documentary filmmaker, and her husband Sang-woo (Zo In-sung), who enjoy a far more affluent lifestyle.
Ye-ji is producing a documentary about laid-off workers and asks Mi-ok to participate in the project. As filming progresses, Mi-ok develops a close connection with Ye-ji while finding herself increasingly drawn to the mysterious and difficult-to-read Sang-woo. The growing emotional tension begins exposing cracks within both marriages, forcing each character to confront desires and conflicts they have long kept hidden.

Rather than relying on dramatic twists, Lee Chang-dong once again focuses on the quiet emotional shifts that gradually reshape his characters’ lives.
Teaser key art hints at emotional conflict ahead
Alongside the release date announcement, Netflix also revealed the film’s teaser key art. The image features Mi-ok and Ye-ji standing apart beneath moonlit trees at dawn, creating an uneasy atmosphere that reflects the emotional distance and uncertainty surrounding both women.
The visual suggests that the relationships at the heart of the story will be tested as the characters confront their contrasting lives, complicated emotions, and difficult personal choices. The subdued composition mirrors the restrained storytelling style for which Lee Chang-dong has become internationally recognized.
The film is directed by Lee Chang-dong from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oh Jung-mi. Production is handled by Pinehouse Film Co., Ltd., Anonymous Content, LLC, and NOWFILM Co., Ltd.
With prestigious festival premieres already secured and one of Korea’s strongest ensemble casts leading the story, Possible Love is positioned as one of Netflix’s most notable international film releases this fall. Audiences will have the opportunity to watch it first in select theaters beginning October 23, followed by its worldwide streaming debut on Netflix on November 6.
