Many people in this world die with regret weighing down on them, hoping for a second chance to do things differently to avoid certain tragic mishaps. Choi Jung-Hyuk in “Police Returner’s Reset Life” was just the same, dealing with a lot of regret when he was murdered. Jung Hyuk had a difficult and dangerous job as the head of the criminal investigation intelligence team. As he was investigating a high-profile case, he was asked to close it by the higher-ups.
Jung Hyuk refused to close a case he had worked so hard on and wanted to catch the culprit. Jung Hyuk is crushed after receiving a call from the hospital about his mother’s death, and while he was rushing over to the hospital, a huge truck crashes into him. As his consciousness faded, he saw a man telling Jung Hyuk that he should have closed the case when he was asked to and that he is the one who was responsible for his mother’s death as well as his own.
Choi Jung Hyuk’s heart was heavy with regret, and all he wished for was a second chance to redo everything and save his mother’s life. Next thing he knew, he woke up in 1997 when he was still a freshman in high school, reliving the same scene over again. This time, Jung Hyuk has resolved to prevent his mother from going through the same hardships as before and catch his mother’s killer as soon as possible.
Police Returner’s Reset Life: Chapter 25 Recap
Let us quickly recap the previous chapter before we move on to any spoilers. In the previous chapter, Jung Hyuk decided to volunteer at the local police precinct with his friends. The Chief is moved by his passionate words and gives each of them an armband and a transmitter. Jung Hyuk is out on a patrol with his friends and an officer when he sees a foreigner being ganged up by a bunch of thugs.
The foreigner had come to the food district to do some shopping when a shady man approached him, asking to show him some stuff the foreigner might be interested in. Even though the foreigner refused, they dragged him into an alley and offered him drugs. Jung Hyuk sees this and calls the police officer for backup, and goes in alone to save the foreigner. The thugs come at Jung Hyuk, thinking that he is some weak child, but Jung Hyuk beats all of them down.
Just as he’s done beating the last thug, the police officer comes with the backup and arrests the thugs and confiscate the drugs they had been selling. They take the foreigner along with them to the station to get his statement. The police officers are visibly frustrated about the drug issue going on. Jung Hyuk suggests putting everyone in slammer – not just the dealers but also the manufacturers and the buyers.
