Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Final Tera Raid Event Could Mark the End of Nearly Four Years of Support

The ongoing starter Pokémon Tera Raid event is expected to conclude in August, and while The Pokémon Company has made no official announcement, it may signal the end of major live support for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

After nearly four years of regular events, raid battles, and content updates, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may finally be approaching the end of their live-service era. While neither Game Freak nor The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed that support is ending, the current starter Pokémon Tera Raid event appears to be the final major event on the schedule, leading many fans to believe Generation 9 is entering its final chapter.

The possibility was recently highlighted by Screen Rant, which noted that the ongoing raid event runs for 30 weeks and currently has no announced successor. If no additional events are revealed, the conclusion of the raid rotation in early August could effectively mark the end of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s long-running post-launch support.

The current Tera Raid event could be Scarlet and Violet’s last

The ongoing event began on January 8, 2026, and features every fully evolved starter Pokémon available in the game’s Pokédex. Each week, players have the opportunity to challenge and catch a different fully evolved starter through special Tera Raid Battles.

These raids are particularly valuable because event Pokémon can only be caught once during their limited availability. Once a featured raid rotates out, players who missed it may not receive another opportunity if no future events are planned.

Based on the 30-week schedule, the event is expected to conclude around August 6, 2026. At the time of writing, The Pokémon Company’s official Scarlet and Violet events page has not announced any additional Tera Raid events beyond the current rotation, adding to speculation that this could be the game’s final major live event.

If support does end this summer, the timing would not be particularly surprising. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launched in November 2022 and have since received nearly four years of continuous event support, including countless Tera Raid Battles, Mystery Gift distributions, and seasonal in-game activities.

Meanwhile, The Pokémon Company has gradually shifted its focus toward newer projects. The recently released Pokémon Champions and ongoing updates for Pokémon Pokopia have become major priorities, while the anime project Pokémon Winds and Waves is scheduled to debut in 2027. As development resources move toward newer titles, maintaining weekly events for Scarlet and Violet becomes less essential.

Even so, it’s important to note that no official statement has confirmed the end of support. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company could still announce additional Tera Raid events or surprise celebrations after the current rotation concludes.

For now, however, trainers hoping to complete their collection of starter Pokémon may want to take advantage of the remaining weeks. If no new roadmap is announced before the current event ends, Generation 9’s longest-running live-service support may quietly come to a close.
