Amazon has revealed that the fourth volume of Shiwasu Hoshikawa’s manga spinoff, Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen, will be the final installment. This volume is scheduled for release on October 4.

The manga is a spinoff of the Bungo Stray Dogs series by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa and explores the early lives of two key characters, Osamu Dazai, and Chūya Nakahara, before they became known as the notorious duo, Twin Dark.

The story follows a young Dazai as he is tasked by Ougai Mori to investigate a strange rumor about the supposed return of Mori’s deceased predecessor.

During this investigation, Dazai meets Chūya Nakahara, who is then the leader of a teenage gang called the Sheep.

They uncover the truth behind these mysterious events, marking the beginning of their legendary partnership.

This manga adaptation by Hoshikawa began in Kadokawa’s Shōnen Ace magazine in September 2022 and is based on a light novel released in August 2019.

The series has provided fans with a deeper understanding of the backgrounds of Dazai and Chūya, showing their early days before the main events of the Bungo Stray Dogs series.

The third volume of this spinoff was released in March, and with the upcoming fourth volume, the story arc will come to a close.

The original Bungo Stray Dogs manga by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa started in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine in December 2012 and has become an ongoing hit.

The series has inspired multiple anime adaptations that aired from 2016 to 2023, with platforms like Crunchyroll and Funimation making the episodes available worldwide.

Besides the TV series, the franchise also includes films such as Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple, which premiered in Japan in 2018 and was later streamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
