On Monday, HIDIVE revealed its plans to stream the anime adaptation of the manga “Plus-Sized Elf (Elf-san wa Yaserarenai.)” for the upcoming summer 2024 season.
The anime is set to premiere in July and features a talented cast, including Ayasa Itō as Elfuda, Takahide Ishii as Tomoatsu Naoe, Rena Hasegawa as Kuroeda, and Ayaka Fukuhara as Oga.
Directed by Toshikatsu Tokoro at Elias, the series boasts character designs by Katsuyuki Sato and series scripts by Yūki Takabayashi. Yukiko Ario is in charge of color design, Shinobu Takahashi is the art director, and Yoshikazu Miyagawa serves as the compositing director of photography.
Keisuke Yanagi is handling the editing, Takayuki Yamaguchi is the sound director, and Cher Watanabe is composing the music. Plus-Sized Elf, originally launched on Wani Books’ Comic Gum website in December 2016, tells the tale of Naoe-kun, a massage therapist who encounters a peculiar patient one day.
The patient, Elfuda, looks like your typical elf with emerald eyes and pointy ears, but there’s a twist—she’s struggled with weight gain due to her love of junk food since leaving her forest homeland. Now, Naoe-kun must help this charming elf girl shed excess weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The manga, published by Wani Books and now by Akita Shoten, is currently being released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. It’s a heartwarming story about friendship, acceptance, and the challenges of maintaining a healthy lifestyle filled with temptations.
