Phantom Blade Zero appears to be building serious momentum ahead of its release. According to new estimates from Alinea Analytics, S-Game’s upcoming action RPG has sold around 300,000 copies on Steam and generated an estimated $14.5 million in revenue only about a week after pre-orders became available.

The figures are estimates rather than official sales numbers from S-Game or Valve. However, the early performance suggests that Phantom Blade Zero has already attracted considerable interest with around 10 weeks remaining before its October 29 launch on PS5 and Steam.

The game has also reportedly crossed 1.6 million Steam wishlists, giving it one of the largest pre-release audiences among games scheduled to arrive this year. Its recent marketing campaign, including a dedicated PlayStation State of Play presentation, appears to have helped increase attention ahead of launch.

Phantom Blade Zero Is Off to a Strong Start on Steam

Alinea Analytics estimated that Phantom Blade Zero had sold approximately 286,000 copies around 70 days before launch, putting its current total at roughly 300,000 copies. The company also estimated that the game had generated $14.5 million in revenue from its early Steam sales.

The numbers place S-Game’s action title well ahead of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers at a comparable point before release, according to Alinea’s estimates. The game was also reportedly tracking in the same broad range as Black Myth: Wukong, although it was still behind the massive pre-launch momentum generated by Game Science’s blockbuster.

Alinea Analytics noted that Phantom Blade Zero was tracking at around 73% of Black Myth: Wukong’s estimated Steam sales at the same point before release. It had also sold approximately 6.4 times more copies than Wuchang: Fallen Feathers had managed 70 days before its launch.

Those comparisons do not guarantee a similar outcome after release. Pre-orders and wishlists can show strong interest, but the final performance will depend heavily on reviews, word of mouth, PC optimization, and how well the finished game meets expectations.

China Could Play a Major Role in the Game’s Launch

China appears to be one of the biggest sources of interest for Phantom Blade Zero. According to Alinea Analytics, around 29% of the game’s estimated Steam wishlists come from China, compared with 17% from the United States and 5% from Japan.

The game could benefit from its strong connection to Chinese culture and martial arts. Its combat design draws inspiration from kung fu, while the game also incorporates elements associated with Chinese artistic and cultural traditions.

Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen is also involved with the project. In an official PlayStation Blog post, S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang confirmed that Yen has served as a creative consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023 and has contributed his martial arts and action filmmaking experience to the game’s combat design.

Yen also performs facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan, the father of the protagonist Soul. PlayStation said the actor’s involvement was intended to help bring the essence of authentic kung fu and martial arts cinema into the game.

PlayStation’s Marketing Push Adds to the Momentum

Sony and PlayStation have given Phantom Blade Zero a significant promotional push in the months leading up to its release. The game recently received a dedicated State of Play deep dive that explored its combat, weapons, difficulty options, side content, and story elements.

The official PlayStation Store page confirms that Phantom Blade Zero will launch on October 29, 2026. Developed and published by S-Game, the title is described as a wuxia-inspired action game powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Players take control of Soul, a warrior who has only 66 days left to live. The official description says he must fight assassins and uncover a conspiracy while steering the dark world of the Phantom World.

With approximately 300,000 estimated Steam sales already recorded and more than 1.6 million reported wishlists, Phantom Blade Zero has established a strong commercial foundation before release. The game still faces the difficult task of delivering on the expectations created by its trailers and marketing, but its early Steam performance suggests that one of October’s biggest action game launches could already be taking shape.
