The Season 1 finale of Apple TV+’s Palm Royale was full of surprises, including a secret identity, a presidential assassination plot, and a dramatic Beach Ball event. As fans await Season 2, they are eager to see how the show’s creators will resolve the cliffhangers and maintain its engaging storyline.
Fortunately, creator Abe Sylvia recently spoke with Collider’s Christina Radish about the finale, future seasons, and new cast additions.
Sylvia shared that Season 2 will start filming “at the end of September.” He revealed:
“We’ve been writing Season 2 for the last seven months. We’re well into it. When we finished Season 1, we knew where we were headed. We were already working on episode 201 while building up to a big climax with five cliffhangers in the last 15 seconds.”
He compared the writing process to the main character, Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, played by Kristen Wiig:
“We knew how Season 2 would start, so we weren’t just adding twists for the sake of it. Like Maxine, we create the toughest situation and then challenge our audience to see how we solve it. Maxine has a whale washup on her beach before her party. We took that to the extreme in the finale, and we’re excited to start Season 2 and show what happens next.”
Palm Royale’s Star-Filled Future
Season 1 featured strong performances from Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, and Carol Burnett. Sylvia hinted at exciting guest stars for Season 2:
“We have some very exciting guest opportunities. Nothing is finalized yet. We’re still working on scripts, but we have ideal roles in mind. It’s thrilling to see who will join us.”
Sylvia also discussed Carol Burnett’s character, Norma, whose true identity was revealed as Agnes in the finale. He mentioned:
“We follow a rule that nothing is wasted. Every detail pays off, especially in a show with so many storylines. We make sure everything has a purpose.”
Aesthetically Pleasing Season Ahead
One of Palm Royale’s highlights is its vibrant 1969 Palm Beach setting. Sylvia hinted at what to expect in Season 2:
“We’ll explore more of the women’s homes and travel around Palm Beach. Be prepared for unexpected stories and upgrades from Season 1. We’ve challenged our designers, Jon Carlos and Alix Friedberg, to keep things fresh and innovative.”
Season 1 of Palm Royale is now available on Apple TV+.
