Outer Banks Season 5 has officially topped Netflix’s English-language TV chart, but the final season opened with fewer views than its predecessor. The latest season of the popular teen adventure series debuted with 9.4 million views, compared with the 15.5 million views earned by Outer Banks Season 4 Part 1 during its October 2024 launch.
Despite the decline, the Season 5 debut remains a major achievement for the Netflix series. According to Netflix’s official Top 10 update, the new season marks the franchise’s fourth consecutive season to debut at No. 1 on the streaming platform’s English TV list.
Outer Banks Season 5 Takes No. 1 on Netflix
The fifth and final season sees the Pogues facing the consequences of a devastating loss while continuing their pursuit of a stolen artifact that could transform their future. The new episodes helped Outer Banks comfortably claim the top spot during its debut week.
My Brilliant Career Season 1 followed at No. 2 with 4.7 million views, while My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 reached No. 3 with 4.3 million views. Season 5’s binge-release format makes a direct comparison with Season 4’s split release imperfect.
Season 4 Part 1 debuted with 15.5 million views, while its second part opened with 8.6 million views. Even so, Season 5’s 9.4 million-view launch was enough to extend Outer Banks’ strong streak at the top of Netflix’s rankings.
With the main series now concluding after five seasons, Netflix is also developing an Outer Banks prequel from creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. The Pogues’ story may have reached its final chapter, but the world of Outer Banks is not finished with Netflix.
