Kadokawa recently announced that the anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga Oshi no Ko will have a third season.

To accompany this news, a special visual and video were released to excite fans. The second season of the anime, which premiered on July 3 in Japan, aired on Tokyo MX and several other channels, with ABEMA streaming it online.

For international audiences, HIDIVE streams the anime, including an English dub. The second season’s story centers around a 2.5D stage play titled Tokyo Blade, with key characters like Kana, Aqua, and Akane taking on roles within the play.

Several new voice actors joined the cast in the second season, including Kōki Uchiyama as Taiki Himekawa and Yūsuke Kobayashi as Sakuya Kamoshida.

The show also features Tomoyuki Shimura, Ayane Sakura, and Daisuke Ono, who play important supporting roles.

The first season of the Oshi no Ko anime, which aired in April 2023, kicked off with a 90-minute episode, making a strong impression on viewers.

HIDIVE noted that it was the platform’s most successful series launch to date. The manga, written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish), began serialization in *Weekly Young Jump* in 2020.

It quickly gained popularity, earning several awards, including the prestigious Best General Manga at the 46th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2022.

The series is now in its final arc, and fans can read the manga digitally in English through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service. Oshi no Ko has also been well-received internationally, with over 3 million copies in circulation.

In addition to the anime, Oshi no Ko is expanding its reach with a live-action adaptation. The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 28 with eight episodes, followed by a sequel film that will be released in theaters on December 20.

There will also be a stage play adaptation of the 2.5D Stage Play arc, which will be performed in Osaka later this year, further cementing the series’ popularity in various forms of media.
