The Spring marks the release of tons of new anime and Oshi no Ko is one of the upcoming anime in the Spring 2023. The anime is an adaptation of the manga “Oshi no Ko,” written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka. The manga gathered a lot of attention with it’s unique premise and seemingly cheerful but somewhat dark storyline. The story is not one without mystery, fantasy and colorful characters which played a part in it’s rising popularity.
The Spring 2023 will see an incredible line up of new anime which a lot of fans are excited for. This Spring, we will see the anime adaptations of some of the famous manga like Jigaraku or Hell’s Paradise and Mashle. Galaxy Next Door is a romcom and slice of life anime which will steal everyone’s heart. Not just that, Demon Slayer’s Swordsmith Village Arc will be airing from 9 April as well.
Other than Demon Slayer, new seasons will be releasing for a lot of popular anime. KaguyaSama’s movie “A Kiss That Never Ends” has aired this season. The Ancient Magus’ bride’s season 2 will be airing this spring along with Dr. Stone’s new season. A popular romantic drama webtoon called “Why Raelina Ended Up in the Duke’s Mansion” will be getting an anime adaptation as well.
Oshi no Ko’s anime adaptation has created a buzz among the fans worldwide as they are eagerly waiting for the manga to be adapted on live screen. Kadokawa and Shueisha have co produced the anime and the Doga Kobo animation studio is responsible for the animation. The story of Oshi no Ko is truly one of a kind and puts a lot of things that are often covered up and buried in the entertainment industry on a center stage.
About Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko is quite dark and twisted behind the mask of beautiful animation and the premise of glittering entertainment industry. The genre of this anime is drama and supernatural, and caters to the seinin demographic. We can assume that the anime will contain mature themes since it is directed towards more mature audience. Oshi no Ko’s first season will have a total of 11 episodes.
Oshi no Ko is about a young and upcoming idol named Ai Hoshino, who is a member of the girl group B-Komachi. Ai is the most popular member of the group, with her dazzling smile and her innocent aura which captivated the hearts of her fans. But behind the curtains, Ai is simply living a lie with a fake smile. Ai becomes pregnant with twins, and refuses to tell her manager and talent company’s CEO the identity of the father.
Gorou Amemiya is a OB/GYN practicing in the countryside, who became a fan of Ai after being introduced to her by one of the patients in the hospital. When Ai comes to the hospital for checkup, Gorou immediately recognizes her but his excitement is short-lived when he realizes she is pregnant. It is quite shocking for him to see Ai pregnant at 16 but he is determined to safely deliver Ai’s babies.
On the day of the delivery, Gorou is assaulted and murdered by a jealous fan and Gorou wakes up, reincarnated as Ai’s baby boy. Ai names the twins Aqua and Ruby and decides to keep their existence a secret from the world. Like Aqua, Ruby was also Ai’s fan who got reincarnated as Ai’s baby. Both them slowly witness the reality of the showbiz and the darkness that surrounds everyone involved in it.

The episode 1 of Oshi no Ko was announced to be 90 minutes long, much to the delight of fans. Oshi no Ko Episode 1 will air on Wednesday, 12 April 2023, at 11 PM JST.

Oshi no Ko will debut in Japan on 12 April, and viewers can watch the anime on Gunma TV, Tokyo MX, BS11, KBS Kytoto and Sun TV within Japan. The anime will also be streamed on HIDIVE streaming service.
