In a recent interview, Riichiro Umetsu, the editor of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime manga and light novel series, and Shinichiro Narita, the anime’s producer, discussed which characters they believe deserve more appreciation from fans. When asked about characters who deserve more recognition, Umetsu immediately brought up Gobta.
He emphasized Gobta’s knack for connecting with people and suggested that the character’s charm is often underestimated.
“Gobta (laughs). He is an underling, but you can kind of say he is the bad friend that you can goof off together with. He can see eye-to-eye with people, so I think he’s a character that deserves more attention.”
On the other hand, the producer mentioned Beretta, a character he feels is frequently overlooked despite their significant role in the plot.
The Underrated Backbone of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
“So in this world of very unique characters, I would have to say Beretta. Because they are tossed around in the plot a lot, but have a very strong backbone and put in a lot of effort to keep living. So that should be a focus point. Please give them more love because they are trying their best.”
