Stephen John Ward, who portrays Dracule Mihawk in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, recently faced a fun dilemma during a rapid-fire interview segment titled “One Piece One Minute Chat.” The short challenge asked Ward to answer a series of quick questions within sixty seconds, encouraging spontaneous responses.
One of the questions asked the actor to choose between two well-known Devil Fruit powers from the series: Monkey D. Luffy’s Gum-Gum abilities or Buggy the Clown’s Chop-Chop powers. Despite Luffy’s powers being central to the story, Ward surprised fans with his answer.
“Buggy,” he replied without hesitation.
In the One Piece universe, Luffy’s Devil Fruit grants him rubber-like abilities, allowing his body to stretch and absorb powerful attacks. Buggy’s Chop-Chop Fruit, on the other hand, allows him to split his body into multiple pieces and control them independently, making him immune to most cutting attacks.
Ward’s quick choice added a humorous twist to the interview, especially given Buggy’s unpredictable personality and comedic role in the series.
The one-minute segment featured several other questions about the One Piece world. Ward revealed that his favorite character besides Mihawk is Nami and named Bleach as the first anime that comes to mind after One Piece, followed by Dragon Ball Z.
Although the interview lasted only a minute, it gave fans a brief and entertaining look at Ward’s preferences while promoting Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the beloved pirate adventure.
