The English dub of One Piece is set to commence the Egghead Arc, with its world premiere taking place during Anime Expo 2024 next month.
Since its revival in 2019, the English dub has been rapidly progressing, catching up with the original Japanese broadcast.
Starting from the Punk Hazard Arc, fans have watched as the dub has swiftly advanced through subsequent arcs, nearing the conclusion of the Wano Country arc. As the Wano arc approaches its end, preparations are underway for the next chapter in the series.
World Premiere Announced for One Piece’s Egghead Arc Dub
The Egghead Arc marks the beginning of the Final Saga in Eiichiro Oda’s long-running franchise. Crunchyroll and Toei Animation have revealed plans to host the world premiere of Episodes 1090 and 1091 of the English dub during a special panel at Anime Expo on Friday, July 5th.
These episodes represent the initial installments of the Egghead Arc, which is currently airing in Japan. This event is significant as it will be the first time the Japanese and English language dub releases are synchronized within the same arc of the anime.
In the Egghead Arc, Luffy and the Straw Hat crew venture to Dr. Vegapunk’s futuristic island laboratory on Egghead Island. The Japanese language release of these episodes is presently available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
The arc introduces new characters, including Yohei Tadano as Dr. Vegapunk, Shuhei Sakaguchi as Shaka, Aya Hirano as Lilith, Ryoko Shiraishi as Edison, Tokuyoshi Kawashima as Pythagoras, Kaede Hondo as Atlas, and Mutsumi Tamura as York. However, the English dub voice cast for these characters has not yet been announced.
As of this publication, a digital release date for the English dub of the Egghead Arc has not been provided. Therefore, fans eagerly anticipating these new episodes should mark their calendars for Anime Expo during the weekend of July 5-7.
