Ivankov represents Sanji’s nightmare(greatest fear) because he was the only one who recognized his weakness (and for no other reason). Once Sanji accepts his weakness, Ivankov disappears as well. (worstgen)

The flashback reveals that, even though Sanji won his most fights against many Okama, he always sustained injuries in the process. Ivan notices this and tells Sanji that he could easily dodge the attacks, but that he doesn’t value himself. He doesn’t love himself, that is his greatest weakness. Sanji reflects on Ivan’s words and accepts that he is a Strawhat, and that this identity allows him to love himself. Afterward, Ivan disappears as well. (worstgen)

ONE PIECE 1196 FULL SUMMARRY
The cover story is Lilith and Vegapunk No. 3 fighting a kangaroo.
The chapter starts where we left off last chapter. Sanji is screaming, “Don’t come out, I never want to remember those days again!” and he says, “KEEP YOUR MIND STRONG! KEEP YOUR IMMUNITY UP!”
He manages to push away the memory somehow and says, “DON’T EVER COME OUT AGAIN! LOCK AWAY THOSE HELLISH DAYS!!” Then he remembers Ivankov’s big face saying, “PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, HEEE HAWWWWWW!”
Sanji gets stabbed again by Killingham and he screams. Killingham stabs him this time in the hands and says:
YEAH…!! THAT’S RIGHT!! HURTS, DOESN’T IT?! WAHAHA, FOR A WAITER… YOUR ARMS ARE PRETTY IMPORTANT TO YOU, HUH!!!
Sanji tells Killingham to stop, but Killingham laughs and says Sanji was enjoying tearing him to pieces, and now he is going to enjoy tearing Sanji to pieces lol. He asks if he should start with his arms or legs.
Sanji tells Killingham while kicking him away that he wasn’t talking to him, and this gives Killingham the idea to look into Sanji’s head.
Sanji pushes Killingham away in the air and is kind of exhausted. Killingham is very pissed and says it doesn’t matter if he is immortal and keeps taking hits; he is going to snap, and he is at the end of his wits. Killingham gets punched away in the face this time, and the bubble around his head pops lol. The next second, it comes back again, and Killingham tells Sanji:
“I’M LOSING MY PATIENCE, YOU LOWLY PEASANT!!”
And he also tells Sanji while Sanji is fighting him back:
LOOK AT YOU!! YOU’RE ONLY GETTING WEAKER!!
WHILE I KEEP RECOVERING!! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!
IMAGINE WHAT YOU’LL LOOK LIKE IN FIVE MINUTES!! IMAGINE WHAT I’LL LOOK LIKE!!
Their fight continues, and Killingham tells Sanji to beg his captain for help. Sanji thinks that if he can’t defeat a God’s Knight… and remembers a flashback of Luffy in Whole Cake Island where Luffy tells Sanji that he has to come back and he can’t become King of the Pirates without him (Sanji).
Sanji talks to himself:
…HOW COULD I EVER TELL HIM I COULDN’T DO ANYTHING!!
I CAN’T TELL MY CAPTAIN…!!
We get to the part where Killingham is talking and says:
THEY’RE EXPECTING GREAT THINGS FROM YOU!!!
DON’T WORRY, THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE…
…WHO CAN’T LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS!!
YOU’RE JUST ONE OF THEM!!
At the same time, Sanji remembers his father, who tells him he has no talent.
Sanji is almost passing out from the beating, and at the same time, Killingham uses a dream output to summon Sanji’s nightmare. Sanji says he almost fell asleep with the bonehead look Luffy had when he fought Enel on the Arc Maxim lol. He says, “That was close, I almost fell asleep,” and Killingham says this is the time for his nightmare.
Sanji is also shocked and says that it is Iva? Not those Germa scumbags? lol.
Killingham says he doesn’t even know who he called lol, but tells him to attack Sanji lol. We get this really cool Iva-chan panel.
Killingham merges with Iva-chan and punches Sanji really hard while Sanji remembers what Iva-chan told him in the past.
The reason Sanji is afraid of Iva-chan is because he saw through Sanji’s weakness.
Sanji thinks to himself he lost while getting kicked away, and the flashback to Kamabakka Kingdom starts. There is just so much talking there, and he meets Ivankov. Ivankov says that he is his master when Sanji asks him, “Who is my master?”
Their conversation goes like this. Sanji says:
WHY DO I HAVE TO REST FOR TWO WEEKS?! IT’S JUST A SCRATCH, I CAN FIGHT!!
Ivankov says:
NO ONE IS GOING TO ATTACK A WOUNDED MAN WHILE HE’S SLEEPING!!
And Sanji says:
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT…?
And Ivankov says:
SANJI-BOY, WHAT WAS THAT MATCH JUST NOW? YOU WON, BUT YOU’RE COVERED IN WOUNDS!! KURARA LOST, BUT SHE HAS FEWER INJURIES.
YOUR PAST 30 FIGHTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THIS!! IT MAKES ME NERVOUS, CHAPABLE!!
Their conversation goes on, and Ivankov tells him:
“I TOLD YOU NOT TO TAKE ATTACKS YOU CAN DODGE, CHAPABLE.”
“ARE YOU RECKLESS?! OR JUST CARELESS?!”
“CHARGING IN LIKE A BOAR!! IN SUCH A HURRY TO DIE, TREATING YOURSELF SO ROUGHLY, CHAPABLE!!”
And while talking to Sanji, Ivankov goes through the wall/bed or something lol, the classic Ivankov gag.
Ivankov tells Sanji to have self-love, and Sanji says he doesn’t care about himself; he dedicates all his love to the ladies. Ivankov gets mad and tells him that those who cannot love themselves cannot love others, and goes on to talk more about love.
Fast forward, in the flashback Ivankov says if you keep this up, one day you will reach your limit. Ivankov says he has someone he would gladly give his life to protect (that is Dragon). Sanji clears his mind and talks to Iva in his mind, saying that he gets what Iva meant. The nightmare disappears, and he tells Killingham:
“—I’M NOT TAKING ANOTHER HIT FROM YOU…!!”
“I DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE A CELESTIAL DRAGON OR WHATEVER…”
“IT’S ANNOYING HOW YOU TALK DOWN TO US IN THE COUNTRY OF OUR BENEFACTOR!!”
“YOUR FACE IS TOO FULL OF YOURSELF!!! I SAID, HORSE-MAN!!!” (could be a wrong translation here).
The chapter ends with a “!!?” exclamation and question mark, hinting at Sanji unlocking CoC.
One thing worth noting in this chapter is that the SFX used when Sanji is remembering and screaming is the same SFX used when Luffy said “HM?” and Sommers was screaming while running away from Zoro, which is “ああああ” Basically, “AAAHHH.” So it is an interesting take.
