A cheerful environment was there everywhere when some of the biggest announcements were made at Jump Fest, event and the best one out of them all was the remake adaptation of One Piece by Wit Studio and Netflix.
Fans were very excited about this since who doesn’t want to rewatch One Piece in a better quality? It was also a good opportunity for anime viewers who were hesitating to watch One Piece because of old animation.
However, just recently, bad news related to this remake adaptation came out. One of the animators from the One Piece animation team by Toei Animation shared his sad thoughts on the recent remake announcement. So, in this article, we will take a look at what exactly that animator tweeted and why the remake is a good decision.
One Piece Animator Shares His Sadness on the Recent Remake Announcement.
A Toei Animation animator who works on One Piece anime shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). First, he tweeted by asking his followers what would happen to the innovation anime remake that is currently being broadcast.
In the thread, he tweeted that it makes him feel a little sad that the value of the anime that has built up until now seems to be diminishing. In the end, he tweeted that he is very happy that so many people from other countries have told him that his narrow-minded views are not like that. It’s a warm world there, where everyone takes care of both work and staff members.
My thoughts
It seems like the animator is kind of sad that the anime, on which they worked for 23 years, is now being replaced by the remake adaptation. Well, he is right since I guess only a few will ever check out the older version of One Piece made by Toei Animation once the remake is released.
There might be hardcore fans who will say that the original is always the best, but deep down, they would also know that new animation is always better than the old one if executed properly.
For example, take Hunter x Hunter. We all know that Hunter x Hunter has two variants, the first being animated by Nippon Animation in 1999 and the second one by Madhouse in 2011. I guess now no one will think to watch the older animation by Nippon animation when they can easily watch the better one.
The same thing will happen with One Piece Remake by Wit Studio if they animate it properly, as Madhouse did with Hunter x Hunter. And I think that One Piece needed this remake adaptation, if not today, some other day,

Reasons Why One Piece Needed a Remake Adaptation
The first one will be the screen ratio. One Piece anime had a 4:3 ratio to 206 episodes, which is quite a lot of episodes in the old format. From episode 207, One Piece anime adapted the 16:9 ratio, which hasn’t changed yet.
The second one will be the quality. The lower quality makes it hard for the new generation to consider watching it, even though they know its peak. So, this remake will appeal to the new generation’s audience, who likes watching some flashy animations.
The third one will be pacing, which is the biggest problem of One Piece anime. Even though the anime has a negligible amount of fillers, the story is stretched a lot in anime. Before getting offended, just hear me out first.
The Hunter x Hunter anime has 148 episodes, which were adapted from 340 chapters, almost double the number of chapters. On the other hand, in One Piece anime, 1085 episodes were adapted from 1057 chapters. You now get what I am trying to say.
The One Piece animation studio, Toei Animation, makes the anime kind of long to maintain the distance between the manga and anime. I guess the Wano arc is fully adapted from the manga without adding extra stuff, but recently, Toei Animation announced that they are returning to old pacing, which is kind of bad news.
