Olivia Rodrigo continues to share her innermost feelings. The 21-year-old pop star is gearing up to reveal the deluxe edition of her acclaimed 2023 album, “GUTS (spilled),” this Friday.
She made the announcement during her performance at Chicago’s United Center on Wednesday night, as well as on Instagram.
Fans captured the onstage revelation, where Rodrigo revealed a handwritten note that read,
“GUTS DELUXE OUT FRIDAY.”
Surrounded by her backup dancers holding signs with the titles of the upcoming songs, Rodrigo shared the exciting news.
As captured in footage shared on social media, the audience erupted into cheers, eliciting a smirk from the Grammy winner.
On Instagram, the “Bad Idea Right?” singer shared a photo of the sign she held, surrounded by confetti, along with a shot of her and her dancers’ reveal.
The carousel also featured the updated cover artwork, resembling the original “GUTS” album art but torn over Rodrigo’s face to reveal the deluxe title.
In the caption, the pop-rock artist confirmed the addition of five new songs to the project.
“5 new tunes for ya!!!! GUTS (spilled) out friday!!!!!!” she wrote.
Rodrigo further confirmed the tracklist on her Instagram Story, sharing an image that listed the original 12 tracks in a black, typewriter-like font, alongside the new songs — “Obsessed,” “Girl I’ve Always Been,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger,” and “So American” — seemingly handwritten in red.
“GUTS (spilled)” arrives as the “Get Him Back!” singer starts on her first-ever stadium tour. The GUTS World Tour commenced its North American leg in late February, earning praise for its rock and pop-punk show qualities, Rodrigo’s amazing stage presence, and an expansive setlist encompassing nearly all songs from her sophomore album and debut, “Sour,” and more.
Amidst the tour, Rodrigo has been lauded for her activism promoting safe sex and reproductive healthcare. At each tour stop, she allocates a portion of ticket sales to her nonprofit, Fund 4 Good, and the National Network of Abortion Funds, while offering free resources for fans at select dates.
The current leg of the tour runs through March, concluding in early April in New York City, where the former Disney star will perform four shows at Madison Square Garden.
Subsequently, Rodrigo will venture to Ireland to kick off the U.K./European dates, scheduled from late April to late June. Additional North American dates are slated to resume in mid-July, extending throughout the summer.
“GUTS,” the follow-up to the “Drivers License” singer’s 2021 debut, garnered acclaim upon its release in September of last year, marking a reunion with her frequent collaborator, producer Dan Nigro. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned six Grammy nominations in total.
Upon the release, Rodrigo opened up to PEOPLE about the pressure she felt in writing the record that was set to follow her smash hit Sour.
“For the first few months of writing Guts I was dealing with a lot of noise in my head about whether it was going to be good enough or whether I could ever top what I did on Sour,” she shared. “It definitely adds a lot of pressure.”
“I had to switch my mindset into just trying to write songs that I would like to hear on the radio and not trying to beat anything or achieve any sort of commercial success,” the “Vampire” singer added “Then it became a lot more fun, and the music became a lot better.”
