Drake shares moments of love with his parents on social media
The rapper took over his Instagram account to post a sweet family photo of his dad after his trip to Canada, which finally happened after 15 years of waiting.
Irrespective of the age you are, having your parents beside you always hits differently and brings alive the kid in you. The same Drake’s feelings were when he saw his father after 15 years; there’s no certain reason given yet for why his dad was unable to return to their homeland.
Drake, being overwhelmed, wrote, “First file in over 15 years; they let the OG back into Canada,” beside the photo he posted of his parents, Dennis Graham and Sandi Graham, posing together. He also shared his gratitude with others as he wrote, “Thank you to everyone who helped us out.”
Dennis and Sandi met at a nightclub in Toronto, where Dennis was a Memphis-born musician doing performances in the early 80s. The couple and their slip when the All for the Dog rapper was 5 years old.
After their split, the rapper was primarily raised by his mom. Dennis, who moved out to the United States, used to drive Drake from Memphis during the holidays.
Dennis and Sandi Graham, even after going through the ups and downs in their relationship, seem to be in a good place even now.
He posted a picture of his ex-wife’s birthday in January 2023 with the caption “Happy Birthday, Pinky, we love you” to a picture of their family portrait, where the former Graham couple are posing with their son and grandson.
Drake shares his son, Adonis (6), with a French artist, Sophie Brussax. Drake, who still keeps up with his parents, posted a picture of him along with his mother and son during Christmas in December.
He captioned the post, “Gifted you things with and without barcodes; gave with every fiber of my soul.” He also added, “Gia stones that glowed Chanel flaps that overflowed; I even gave you the tools to avoid reaping what you show.” Drake concluded the caption with, “But somehow different stories are being told on the road.”
Drake was all ready to launch the ‘It’s All a Blur Tour: Big as What?’ featuring J. Cole this week in Denver, but it has been postponed now to Tuesday.
As per reports, the tour will be launching on February 2 in Tampa Bay, Florida, in addition to his Denver shows that are now pushed back to April 15 and 16.
Dennis had a true passion for music but couldn’t achieve much or make it through, but Drake took the gift of a legacy from his father to a different level.
Dennis Graham has, in recent years, made appearances in the music albums of his son and has been known for his Canadian band “The Arkells” song, ‘Drake’s Dad’.
Drake started his recording career in 2006, when he released his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement, and made a career breakthrough with his 2009 mixtape ‘So Far Gone’ and its hit single ‘Best I Ever Had’.
The list of awards that Drake has won includes five Grammys and a record 34 Billboard Music Awards, along with the Brit, Juno, and American Music Awards.
Drake holds the record for the most number-one singles on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot Rap Songs, and Rhythmic Airplay charts.
