Noel Fielding Controversy Explained
One must note Noel Fielding didn’t spark controversy just for one incident but many. Back in 2017, the comedy actor said, “No one likes a tubby goth.” Following this comment, fans got badly disappointed. Even though he cleared out the fact later on Twitter that it was just a joke from his side, nobody liked it. The scandal didn’t stop right there.
In the following year, Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas were accused of “casual racism.” A food critic did it and mentioned that it also lost its charm, becoming too offensive. Not just that, the alleged person also addressed the show (The Great British Bake Off) to be “tired.” To be more particular, it happened during the Mexican-themed week.
That food critic was American and accused that they were not very familiar with Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas’ previous works. It was also reported by the critic that the show used “countries as themes, cuisines as costumes, and identities as performances.” The controversies were fueled when Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas dressed up in sombreros and made comical puns. People got mad.
Noel Fielding made “sexual references” on The Great British Bake Off. Because of that, the show got hit with Ofcom complaints. To be more particular, it received 37 complaints in all from the watchdog.
What did he say specifically? He cracked a joke saying that Mr. Spoon (the character he created using a wooden spoon) wanted to see contestant Peter Sawkins naked. He also asked Peter if he liked Mr. Spoon.
Fans took this discussion on social media platforms. They cited these references made by Noel to be “inappropriate” and “creepy.” This eventually sparked controversies surrounding the comedy actor.
Some also claimed that it crossed a line of good taste and appropriateness. One fan made a post that said, “Poor Peter uncomfortable and politely putting up with Noel’s creepy comments.”
Concerning Noel Fielding’s controversies, he didn’t stop right there. After some time, he again cracked a joke about making a naked sculpture of Paul Hollywood from jelly.
When Matt Lucas asked further about the object, he clarified that it would be a “Nude sculpture of Paul Hollywood, making his nipples lime-flavored.” It was surely very offensive.
Little did you know, once, Noel Fielding’s love for cake got him fired from a job. We are talking about his job at a cake shop, which he addressed to be the “worst” one.
