Nintendo could be preparing to sell its revised Joy-Con 2 controllers with replaceable batteries outside Europe, according to newly published US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification documents.
The filings have fueled speculation that the updated controllers could accompany the standard Nintendo Switch 2 in North America, rather than remaining exclusive to European markets.
FCC FILINGS HINT AT WIDER JOY-CON 2 AVAILABILITY
According to Nintendo Patents Watch, the revised Joy-Con 2 controllers have appeared in FCC certification records under the model numbers BEE-012(-01) and BEE-014(-01). The publication highlighted the documents’ “label and location” exhibits as evidence that the updated controllers could reach North America.
The filings do not confirm Nintendo’s retail plans, however. The company has yet to officially announce whether these revised accessories will be sold outside the territories covered by its European distribution network.

The development follows Nintendo’s announcement that it would introduce Switch 2 hardware and accessories with user-replaceable batteries in Europe ahead of battery regulations taking effect on February 18, 2027. Nintendo’s official announcement confirms that the revised Joy-Con 2 controllers will accompany the updated console in that market.
The same reporting has identified FCC certifications for a revised Switch 2 Pro Controller and a GameCube controller for Nintendo Switch 2, both featuring replaceable-battery revisions. Earlier findings also pointed to updated Nintendo 64 controllers.
If Nintendo expands these products internationally, players could benefit from easier battery replacement and longer-lasting accessories. For now, the possibility of a global rollout remains speculation rather than a confirmed Nintendo plan.
