The theory has gained traction across the Nintendo community because several Switch 2 games released earlier this year were accompanied by amiibo launching on the same day, even when the figures were unrelated to those games. If that trend continues, many fans believe Nintendo’s biggest remaining first-party release of the year could arrive just over a week before Rockstar Games launches Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19.

The latest theory originated in a Reddit discussion. According to the Reddit user, Nintendo has repeatedly paired new game launches with amiibo releases, regardless of whether the collectibles are tied to the game itself.
The post cited several examples from 2026, noting that Mineru’s Construct amiibo launched alongside Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, while Meta Knight and Shadow Star amiibo coincided with Pokopia. It also pointed to Dedede and Tank Star amiibo releasing alongside Rhythm Heaven Groove, suggesting the pattern has become increasingly consistent.
This time, Nintendo has scheduled the Sword Kirby and Dragoon and Noir Dedede and Hydra amiibo for November 11. While the company has not announced a game for that date, fans believe The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is the most likely candidate.
The timing would place Nintendo’s remake just eight days before Grand Theft Auto VI, which is currently scheduled to launch on November 19. Most major publishers have avoided releasing games near Rockstar’s highly anticipated title, making Nintendo one of the few companies that could realistically compete for attention.
