Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has received praise for its technical improvements, but the upgraded version has also encountered several issues following launch. Nintendo has now confirmed bugs affecting the game, including an accessory slot problem in New Game+ and quieter battle music, with a future update planned to address the problems.
The Switch 2 Edition brings major improvements over the original Nintendo Switch release, including enhanced visuals, smoother performance, and support for up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. However, some players quickly reported problems that impacted the overall experience.
According to Nintendo’s official statement shared after investigating player reports, the company confirmed an issue where certain New Game+ saves could lose access to the third accessory equipment slot. Nintendo explained that the bug occurs when players use the Accessory Expansion Kit, have three accessory slots unlocked, and then scan an amiibo through the in-game menu to receive a “Bonus WP” reward.

The accessory slot issue does not remove the items equipped in the missing slot, but it prevents players from accessing the additional equipment space until the problem is fixed. Nintendo stated that it is currently preparing update data to resolve the issue.
The company also confirmed another problem involving battle music volume. Some players noticed that combat tracks were significantly quieter than character dialogue and sound effects, making the music difficult to hear during fights.
The reports were initially highlighted by members of the Xenoblade community, including discoveries shared by Enel on social media, who identified the New Game+ accessory slot issue. While the exact cause was initially unclear, further testing connected the bug to specific amiibo interactions.
Despite the early issues, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition remains a significant upgrade compared to the original release. The improved resolution, higher frame rate, and technical enhancements make it one of the strongest ways to experience Monolith Soft’s popular RPG.
The release also includes quality-of-life improvements that were not widely expected before launch, adding additional value for returning players and newcomers.
Nintendo has not announced a specific release date for the corrective update yet but confirmed that more information will be shared once the patch distribution schedule is finalized.
Until then, players using New Game+ may want to avoid triggering the conditions connected to the accessory slot bug. The issues appear limited compared to the overall improvements, but Nintendo’s planned update should help deliver a smoother experience for Switch 2 owners.
