What can be a better surprise than a trip to Disneyland for a girl on her birthday? Well, The Vampire Diaries, Elena, aka Nina Dobrev, had her 35th happiest birthday at the happiest place on earth, and the credit goes to her Olympian boyfriend, Shaun White (37).
A glimpse of her surprise birthday was shared by the actress on her Instagram account. The series of pictures not only included the happiest trip on her birthday to the happiest place, Disneyland, but also the surprise she received from her closest friends on January 9, on which the star said, ‘I am HARD to SURPRISE, but she was definitely surprised by this gesture.

On Friday, Leena posted pictures from her birthday celebration she had on January 9th, along with her boyfriend Shaun and her closest friends. In the caption of the post, Nina wrote, “happiest surprise on the happiest day at the happiest place on earth.”
Nina was surprised with a trip to Disneyland, which was planned by her boyfriend. The actress had shared a picture in carousel with her friends at Disneyland, in which she’s been holding on to the pole and while being surrounded by her friends.
In the same pose, there was a video where Nina was surprised by her closest friends as they entered her house and surprised her along with her boyfriend. She further said, “I have to say I am hard to surprise” in the caption. Nina shared that she has always known ‘what’s up’ and it’s quite hard to surprise her, but her friends really got her this time. The actress said “I’m still in shock” jokingly in her caption.
The pack of friends she was surrounded with were Aron Paul’s wife Lauren Parsekian, DWTS host Juliana Hough, I Love My Dad star Claudia Sulewski, and Keleigh Sperry, wife of Miles Teller, who brought more joy to her birthday with a surprise visit and Disneyland trip.
The first picture he posted was Nina’s solo picture, where the birthday girl is seen wearing a Mickey Mouse hairband with ‘Birthday Girl’ written on it. Further, there was a video where her closest friends surprised her by visiting her uninformed.
Other pictures included Nina and her friends having fun at Disneyland, along with one where she is holding to a pole in a bus wearing the same hairband and a sash of ‘It’s My F****ing Birthday’ while being surrounded by Shaun, Keleigh, and Claudia.
The video of Nina’s Disneyland birthday celebration was also shared by Hough on Saturday on her Instagram account with a caption that reads, “Celebrated our girl @nina with a surprise trip to the happiest place on Earth, you crushed it, @shawnwhite” to a video where the pack of friends have surprised Nina, including with some fun videos from the bus and of some rides from the Disneyland.
While appreciating the friends she has, Nina wrote, “When it comes to friends, I definitely hit the jackpot.” And not forgetting her boyfriend, who made everything more special for her. She concluded the caption with, “Huge thank you to my love, @shaunwhite, for orchestrating the whole thing! You sneaky little devil. Love you” while sharing gratitude and love with her boyfriend.
Shaun White and Nina Dobrev met in 2019 and later made their relationship official through Instagram in April 2020. The Olympian player and the TVD actress have been dating each other for more than 3 years now. The pair has not shared any further goals of their relationship they have yet.
Shaun told people he feels “no pressure” to propose Dobrev in April. Shaun had further said, “We’re just enjoying our time together” and said they’re just having fun together and being each other’s support. He also said that “you never know.” As he said, “We’ll see what happens.”.
Dobrev had risen to fame through her appearance with the dual characters Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in the supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries. Other than her last release movie, Love Hard (2021), Nina has also made investments in beverage companies and co-owns a wine brand, ‘Fresh Vine Wine’, with her close friend, Julianne Hough.
