Nikki Haley has requested Secret Service protection following mounting threats on her campaign trail, as reported by Fox News. The Republican contender, now Donald Trump’s primary adversary for the 2024 GOP nomination, seeks heightened security measures.
Haley disclosed her request for protection in a discussion with The Wall Street Journal, stating, “We’ve had multiple issues,” following a campaign event in Aiken, South Carolina. She emphasized, “It’s not going to stop me from doing what I need to do.”
Last week, during a press conference, she was asked why there was heightened security at her events. “When you do something like this, you get threats,” she said. “It’s just the reality.”
Haley emphasized the necessity of “putting a few more bodies around us,” noting that it hadn’t significantly impacted her campaigning. She affirmed, “At the end of the day, we’re going to go out there and touch every hand, we’re going to answer every question, we’re going to make sure that we are there and doing everything that we need to.”
A heckler was ejected from her campaign event in Hilton Head shortly after her conversation with reporters.
Trump advanced closer to securing the Republican presidential nomination by defeating Nikki Haley in New Hampshire’s primary.
According to MSNBC, Haley’s current support primarily consists of independents, moderates, and anti-Trump Republicans.
Despite setbacks in Iowa and New Hampshire, she remains resolute, refusing to concede defeat. “This race is far from over,” she asserted to a crowd gathered in Concord, New Hampshire, during an election watch party. “There are dozens of states left to go and the next one is my sweet state of South Carolina.” She said, “I’m a fighter, and I’m scrappy, and now we’re the last ones standing next to Donald Trump.”
