Mnet announced on June 26 that “Road to Kingdom,” the survival program, will return in the second half of the year with changes. The show, which first premiered in 2020, featured seven boy groups competing in weekly missions.
The winning team from “Road to Kingdom” earned the opportunity to compete on the follow-up program, “Kingdom.”
The upcoming season of “Road to Kingdom” will undergo reorganization and major rebranding. Originally serving as a prequel to “Kingdom,” it will now operate independently.
Mnet plans to position “Road to Kingdom” as a core component of its “K-pop boy group rising project,” focusing on highlighting and promoting boy groups.
Following its rebranding, “Road to Kingdom” will now be broadcast under a new title reflecting its changes.
The program aims to strengthen its reality elements and will introduce new benefits for the winning team. It will be directed by Joo Woo Ri, known for her work on “Queendom.”
In May, reports indicated that CRAVITY, xikers, THE NEW SIX, 8TURN, YOUNITE, ATBO, and TEMPEST were potentially joining the lineup. However, official confirmation regarding the lineup is still pending.
