Last year, Motion Twin, the developer of Dead Cells, announced a collaboration with animation studio Bobbypills to create an animated series based on the game. They teased fans with a brief trailer, but updates have been scarce since then.
Recently, excitement peaked with the release of the first full trailer for Dead Cells: Immortalis on YouTube. Clocking in at 90 seconds, the trailer showcases Bobbypills’ animation style and humor, tailored perfectly for the Dead Cells universe.
The animation style, though somewhat crude, fits the gritty aesthetic of Dead Cells. Notably, the trailer is in French, with English subtitles provided, as Bobbypills is a French studio.
The series will debut on the French anime streaming service Animation Digital Network (ADN) under the title Dead Cells: Immortalis on June 19th, with a global release expected later this year.
It’s important to note that Dead Cells: Immortalis is the title for the series in France, suggesting a potential change for international markets. ADN is leading the launch with this title since France will see it first.
As for the video game itself, Motion Twin announced earlier this year that support will end after Update 35, which is currently in beta.
Following this, Motion Twin will focus on their next project, Windblown, an isometric action game. Fans recently got a peak of Windblown through a new trailer, offering insights into what to expect from Motion Twin’s next venture.
