Disney and Marvel fans have eagerly awaited updates on the upcoming Avengers ride at Disney’s California Adventure in Disneyland California. During the 2024 D23 event, Disney shared more details about this new attraction, including its official name, “Avengers: Infinity Defense.” Visitors will join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in an exciting adventure to save the Multiverse.
Previously, at the D23 Expo, Disney revealed the design of the ride vehicle for Avengers: Infinity Defense. The vehicle seems similar to those used in The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Transformers: The Ride at Universal Studios, and the new Peter Pan’s Flight at Tokyo Disneyland.
However, the main focus was not on the ride’s mechanics but on the fact that Avengers: Infinity Defense will take guests to famous locations from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City.
These Multiversal paths will lead to the ride’s main antagonist, King Thanos, a variant of the Mad Titan who defeated the Avengers during the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Besides Avengers: Infinity Defense, Disney also announced a new ride for Avengers Campus. This fourth attraction, named Stark Flight Lab, will offer a thrilling simulation where guests experience what it’s like to fly as an Avenger, driven by g-force.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Josh D’Amaro even shared a photo of Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger and MCU star Robert Downey Jr. testing the ride. Downey Jr. is also expected to reprise his role as Tony Stark for the new experiences coming to Avengers Campus.
More Marvel Experiences Coming to Other Disney Parks
Disneyland California’s Avengers Campus isn’t the only Disney Park getting new Marvel rides. According to Disney, two new Spider-Man rides are in development for other parks. Disneyland Shanghai will feature a high-speed roller coaster where guests can swing alongside Spider-Man.
Disneyland Hong Kong will offer an experience where visitors help Spider-Man take down Doctor Octopus, one of his most notorious foes.
The Avengers will be back on the big screen with the release of “Avengers: Doomsday” in theaters on May 1, 2026. In the meantime, fans can catch up on previous Marvel movies on Disney+.
