KBS1’s upcoming weekday drama, “A Profitable Cage” (working title), has offered a glimpse into the first script reading, featuring the main cast. The narrative of “A Profitable Cage” unfolds as a heartwarming and relatable romantic story, centred around star doctor Jin Soo Ji (Ham Eun Jung), facing a fall from her peak, and novice doctor Chae Woo Ri (Baek Sung Hyun) as they embark on the journey of building a family.
The script reading brought together the main cast, including Ham Eun Jung, Baek Sung Hyun, Oh Hyun Kyung, Kang Byul, Shin Jung Yoon, Sunwoo Jae Duk, and more, showcasing their passion for acting.
Ham Eun Jung steps into the role of Jin Soo Ji, a sought-after psychiatrist on television, carrying the emotional scar of being abandoned by her mother in her youth. Driven by the fear of abandonment, Jin Soo Ji tirelessly works to ensure she does not face the same fate.
Baek Sung Hyun portrays Chae Woo Ri, a character characterized by politeness, humour, and a sense of justice. As an exemplary figure, Chae Woo Ri prioritizes patient understanding and trust over personal success, leading to playful banter with Jin Soo Ji.
Oh Hyun Kyung takes on the role of Chae Sun Young, the owner and chef of a Korean restaurant. The making-of clip hints at a complex family relationship, as Chae Sun Young lies in a coma due to a past accident.
The ensemble cast, including Kang Byul, Shin Jung Yoon, Sunwoo Jae Duk, Kim Hee Jung, Yoon Da Hoon, and more, showcased their commendable acting skills during the script reading, amplifying the anticipation for the upcoming drama.
Following the script reading, Ham Eun Jung reflected, “I think it’s a heartwarming drama that allows us to feel the warm love of family and think about the people around us.”
