On July 24, 2026,the official movie website confirmed the film’s title and announced that it will open in Japanese theaters in spring 2027. With time travel, a Victorian-era backdrop, and a brand-new story.

What the Story Is About

The upcoming movie takes Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo on a brand-new adventure to 19th-century London. According to the official website, the group travels through time using a steam-powered version of Doraemon’s famous time machine.

This film is rooted in a real historical era. That gives the story a different feel while still keeping the fun mix of time travel, friendship, and exciting adventures that fans expect from the franchise.

The Victorian setting also opens the door for new mysteries, inventions, and historical landmarks. While the full story is still under wraps, the first details suggest the movie will combine Doraemon’s classic gadgets with an adventure inspired by one of history’s most fascinating time periods.

The Creative Team Behind the Movie

The new Doraemon movie will be directed by Rushio Moriyama, who has worked on the Doraemon television anime since 2020. Over the past few years, Moriyama has contributed as both a storyboard artist and episode director, making this theatrical film an important milestone in her career.

The screenplay is written by Makoto Ueda, a respected writer known for stories that cleverly use time travel and emotional storytelling. His previous works include The Tatami Galaxy, Tatami Time Machine Blues, and Penguin Highway, all of which have been praised for their creative ideas and memorable characters.

With a director who understands the Doraemon series and a writer experienced in time travel stories, fans have good reason to be excited.
