In order to prevent an accident from taking place, Max immediately removed her from the side of the road where she was directly in line with a moving vehicle.

Although, he was there enought o witness an accident taking place of a grandmother and her son. Well, this was something new for him, to actually see an accident take place and be in a position where he has the power to save lives. Previously, we just used to see him from behind the walls of the hospital trying to change the world but never actually going out for the same.
After seeing this accident, he started going from one place to another in order to convince people to put down a crosswalk in the way. We know that there are not enough crosswalks in the city and this is exactly why Max is making an attempt in order to help the people. We have seen that there are a lot of cases that are sometimes brutal and casual, who come to New Amsterdam because they have been injured due to a lack of crosswalks.
The best oart about the show was seeing Max working with Callie. Although, there are fans who are disappointed because we obviously want Max to have something new and his own with Wilder. Instead, the writers are just trying open old wounds and past relationships for him instead of that.
