The revelation by mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang about her years-long ordeal of abuse, violence, and extortion from her ex-boyfriend ‘A’ has sparked widespread outrage in South Korea.
In the early hours of July 11 KST, Tzuyang held a live broadcast with her legal representatives, bravely detailing the abuse she endured over four years. She disclosed, “I was physically assaulted daily, even while broadcasting. There were times I appeared on camera with a bruised face.”
The situation escalated tragically when Tzuyang decided to press charges against ‘A’, leading to his suicide and the closure of the case without indictment.
The revelation has prompted a reevaluation of past concerns about bruises frequently seen on Tzuyang’s arms during her broadcasts. Previously dismissed as accidents, these marks were revealed to be defense wounds, typically found when victims raise their arms to protect themselves from head and face injuries.
Korean netizens expressed shock and sorrow over the revelation, regretting their previous assumptions and pledging to be more vigilant in recognizing signs of abuse. Many voiced anger and sympathy for Tzuyang, condemning the perpetrator’s actions and mourning the suffering she endured silently.
