Netflix is adding Smile 2 to its September 2026 streaming lineup, giving subscribers another chance to watch the supernatural horror sequel. The film arrives on September 3 alongside several other titles joining the service that week, according to Netflix’s official September schedule.
Released theatrically in 2024, Smile 2 moves the franchise away from the first movie’s focus on psychiatrist Rose Cotter and places Naomi Scott at the center of the story. Scott plays Skye Riley, a successful pop star preparing for a major world tour when a series of increasingly disturbing events begins to disrupt her life.
Skye Riley Becomes the Curse’s Next Target
The sequel starts with Skye preparing to return to the stage, but her comeback quickly becomes intertwined with the supernatural force introduced in the first Smile. After witnessing a disturbing death, she begins seeing people around her display the franchise’s unnerving smile.
The pressure is intensified by Skye’s public life. She has to maintain her image and continue preparing for her tour while dealing with visions and increasingly violent incidents that threaten to expose what she is experiencing.
Parker Finn returned to write and direct the sequel, expanding the mythology of the first film while using Skye’s life as a pop star to create a different setting for the horror. The cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Lukas Gage and Kyle Gallner, who returns as Joel from the original movie.
Naomi Scott Leads a Bigger Horror Story
Scott’s performance is central to Smile 2 because the film places Skye in situations where her professional responsibilities conflict directly with her growing fear. Rehearsals, public appearances, and preparations for her tour become increasingly difficult as the supernatural threat follows her.
The film also gives the franchise a much larger environment than the first installment. Instead of concentrating primarily on a medical setting, the sequel moves through concert preparations, private spaces and public locations where Skye cannot easily escape attention.
That shift allows the horror to follow Skye into places where she is expected to appear confident. The contrast between her carefully maintained pop-star image and the terrifying experiences she cannot explain becomes one of the sequel’s defining elements.
