Netflix is significantly expanding its children’s entertainment ecosystem with a broader lineup of shows, films, and interactive experiences, alongside the introduction of a new gaming app designed specifically for younger audiences.
The streaming platform announced a slate of new and returning preschool titles while also revealing Netflix Playground, a dedicated app aimed at combining entertainment, learning, and play in a single, controlled environment for children.
The initiative reflects Netflix’s ongoing strategy to position itself as a comprehensive destination for family-friendly content, with a particular focus on early childhood engagement and educational value. The company emphasized that its expanded offering is designed not only to entertain but also to support creativity, exploration, and independent discovery among young viewers.
“We’re building a world where kids can not only watch their favorite stories, they can step inside them and interact with their favorite characters,” said John Derderian, Netflix Vice President of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV.
“We’re creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play. Whether it’s reuniting with Hank and the Trash Truck crew for new adventures or making a smoothie with Peppa Pig, watching and playing on Netflix can be the fun and easiest part of every family’s day.”
A New Interactive Experience with Netflix Playground
Central to the announcement is Netflix Playground, a newly launched app designed for children aged 8 and under. The app allows kids to engage with games featuring popular characters such as Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, and others.
Included with all Netflix subscriptions, the app removes common concerns for parents by offering an experience without advertisements, in-app purchases, or additional costs. Games are instantly accessible and can be played offline, making the app suitable for travel or situations where internet access is limited.
The company described the app as a natural extension of its content ecosystem, allowing children to move beyond passive viewing into more interactive forms of engagement.
Alongside the app launch, Netflix confirmed the renewal of several popular children’s series. Trash Truck will return for a third season, while The Creature Cases is set to receive additional episodes.
The platform also announced a new preschool series, Young MacDonald, a musical show centered on the grandson of the classic Old MacDonald character. The series follows his adventures on a farm, where he and his animal companions solve problems and learn about their environment.
These additions are designed to promote problem-solving skills and creativity through storytelling that resonates with young audiences.
Upcoming Releases and Expanding Content Library
Netflix also revealed a schedule of upcoming releases, reinforcing its commitment to established educational brands and creators. New episodes of Ms. Rachel and Sesame Street are on the way, alongside additional content from Mark Rober’s science-focused CrunchLabs series and the competition-style program SCHOOLED!.

Additionally, Danny Go! has already been added to the platform, encouraging interactive participation from viewers at home.
Netflix highlighted its parental control features as a core component of the expanded kids offering. These tools allow parents to create individualized profiles, adjust maturity settings, block specific titles, secure adult accounts with PINs, and monitor viewing activity.
The company stated that this balance between freedom and oversight is key to creating a trusted environment for families.
Children’s programming has become an increasingly important segment for Netflix. According to the company, between 2023 and 2025, four of the most-watched shows on the platform, and six of the top ten, belonged to the kids category, making it the second most popular genre.
In the latter half of 2025 alone, titles such as Gabby’s Dollhouse, Ms. Rachel, The Creature Cases, and Trash Truck played a major role in driving engagement among younger viewers.
With the addition of new titles and interactive features like Netflix Playground, the company is continuing to expand its footprint in the family entertainment space, aiming to offer a unified experience where children can watch, learn, and play within a single platform.
