One of the best things about anime is that it never really defines the border of good or bad, either be it the protagonists or the antagonists. It is entirely up to the viewers whether they like or hate the character. However, sometimes some characters get absolute purified hate and just hate. Today we will discuss one such character, Danzo. Is he the villain of Konoha? Is the hate worth it? Let us find out if he is the real reason behind the infamous Uchiha Massacre.
Shimura Danzo was a respected elder in Konohagakure. Danzo became known as The Darkness of the Shinobi due to his repeated illegal actions and his alleged (but seldom verified) undermining of individual Konoha employees as the founder and commander of Root. Despite his years of shady actions, Danzo had always behaved in the best interests of the town. After Pain attacked the community, he was selected as the Sixth Hokage Candidate. Danzo would flee the Five Kage Summit before being formally sworn into this position and perish in combat with Sasuke Uchiha at the Samurai Bridge.
As a member of the Escort Unit in the First Shinobi World War, along with Kagami Uchiha, Torifu Akimichi, and Team Tobirama, Danzo was encircled by Kumogakure’s Kinkaku Squad. Danzo tried to muster the will to volunteer after realizing that someone on their squad would have to die as a scapegoat for the others to escape. Danzo labeled himself weak as Hiruzen announced his intention to assume the post, yet a part of him felt relieved. Danzo was shocked when the Second Hokage named Hiruzen as his successor after lashing out at him for offering to serve before he could. Then, with Tobirama’s death, the squad was able to flee.
Danzo started making plans to one day become the Hokage when Hiruzen beat him to the position. Hiruzen noticed that because of his carelessness, he had permitted Danz to take over the village’s more covert operations. As a result, Danz established the Anbu subsidiary known as Root and placed it directly under his supervision. Danz himself selected several young shinobi with the obvious ability to join from inside this group.

Is Danzo a Villain? Or Did He have the Right Motives but Wrong Moves?
The protagonists in the renowned shonen franchise Naruto battle a variety of foes, some more significant and noteworthy than others. Despite Kaguya Otsutsuki’s abrupt appearance, Madara Uchiha has still been frequently seen as the major antagonist of the series, while Danzo Shimura is frequently forgotten in this respect by viewers.
One of the most hated characters in anime is known as Danzo. Although many would prefer to forget Danzo’s shady influence in Naruto, a careful examination of his persona exposes just how successful Danzo was as a significant antagonist. Danzo had his abilities that created significant obstacles for the heroes to conquer, even though he may not be as well known as other prominent enemies throughout the series. Furthermore, compared to other villains, his legacies ended up inflicting considerably bigger wounds.
Danzo played a significant role in the development of the Akatsuki, Orochimaru, and Uchiha clan, the three main antagonists of the Naruto franchise, even though he wasn’t the only one. Danzo tried to keep Amegakure’s leader Hanzo under control while eradicating the burgeoning Akatsuki group during the Third Shinobi World War because he was afraid of the strongest growing from Amegekure.
The Akatsuki was a peace-oriented group at the time, and they sought to cooperate with Hanzo to help their nation be restored. Unfortunately, Danzo lied to the tranquil Akatsuki while convincing Hanzo that they were rivals. After their battle, Danzo thought the two angles were destroyed and no longer a threat to Konoha, but he was unaware that the Akatsuki had survived and would go on to become the most dangerous foe in the world.
After the Nine-tailed Fox attack, Danzo began to view the Uchiha clan as an enemy and vowed to exact revenge on them using the power he had gained through his work with Orochimaru. Considering that their Sharingan does have the capability to manipulate the Fox, Danzo shared the suspicions of others that the Uchihas were responsible for the assault. Concern was also expressed about the complicated and disdainful relationship between Konoha and the Uchihas.
These suppositions claim that the Uchiha were perceived as adversaries and responded in kind by spreading rumors of a coup d’état. Shisui, an Uchiha member, stood up to keep the peace, but Danzo assaults the young shinobi out of concern for his plan to utilize mind control. Danzo thought his scheme had once again rescued the town after getting the cunning and kind Itachi to murder his whole tribe, save for his brother Sasuke. That ultimately turned out not to be the case as Sasuke ascended to become the next significant villain.
Danzo was convinced that he was doing what was best for his tribe. Danzo is an unusual villain partly due to his sincere commitment to Konoha but also because of his perverted and antiquated viewpoints, which make his deeds make more noise than his words and characterize him as such. Some of the most captivating villains are those who carry out their horrific deeds for noble causes. Although most, if not all, viewers will continue to find Danzo repulsive, there is still something to be said about a character that has such tenacious belief for a good cause.
Danzo had nearly completed all of his objectives towards the conclusion of his life. He defeated all of Konoha’s adversaries (or, at minimum, those he believed), developed the power required to defend Konoha, and died defending the community he cherished. Danzo, in contrast to every other Naruto villain, never had to recognize his mistakes in any way; instead, he was able to maintain his composure during nearly every scene and was convinced of the significance of his accomplishments.
This was my view on Danzo and his actions throughout the series. You can tell us your thoughts and opinion in the comment section below.
