In Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing, the top twelve survivalists out there are sent to the sticks for forty-five days in the jungles of South Africa. As with Naked and Afraid’s style, they are —as the name implies— stripped bare and must go out in the wild to find shelter and cover from the menaces and challenges that nature throws their way in hopes of winning the prize of $100,000, which makes you wonder if getting chased by a lion or having the risk of being eaten by some other wild beast, getting injured from falling or whatever is really worth that kind of money.
In any case, this show incorporates the elements of survivalism, adventure, reality tv plotting, and conspiracy into a very innovative mix that will make you want to watch it if you’re into nature shows and shows like Bear Grylls’ Man vs. Wild. Furthermore, the show is full of obstacles that the contestants must face, both physical and mental, as they battle to survive in the wild while finding a way to make it out alive with their sanity intact; this includes stuff like building shelters to creating weapons out of whatever materials they can find, these people have to demonstrate courage and resilience in order to survive in the wilderness. All in all, this is a show that will not only entertain you but also give you an appreciation for the power of nature and the skills it takes to live in it.
Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Episode 3 Recap
The last two episodes centered around how the contestants formed a pack to keep Jeff from hoarding all the items; they had to go through a very lengthy and difficult migration hike. The survivalists managed to land in Zone Two and were forced to scramble in search of new assets to complete their quests. Steven and Sarah scored a fishing kit, but Jeff took notice of their gear and felt tempted to toss it in the river and eliminate them, but they didn’t. Other teams are in search of porcupine quills but are having a hard time locating the hidden caches.
As night falls and snakes and night predators loom in, Gary manages to make a fire; Waz jumps in with some fishing gear he got. The next day, the team is in search of an axe; they’ll be saving some calories by chopping stuff down with that instead of a dull machete. Jeff is trying to fish on a creek, and he’s sulking because the other team wouldn’t trade him a bow and arrow, and he’s fishing at a spot where a bunch of impalas is drinking water if he heads that bow; he could hunt one and have protein for the whole crew. Gary ends up eating a fat fried snake because they couldn’t land a big catch. As the show concludes, people around Jeff are having second thoughts about keeping him around.
