It is not an alien concept for the anime industry to make their main character something other than human and showcase them living their ordinary lives again in that new form. However, what is rare is how different the take they have considered on the anime, My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog.
The unnamed protagonist of ours does not know about what has happened to him, not even realizing that he isn’t quite what he was before and is just lying on the road under the rain. He sees his own classmate, Inukai walking towards him and gets confused watching how she is treating him.
She picks him up, and in that soaked wet condition, brings him to her home. He is very confused about what is happening and why is she acting so differently all of a sudden. He gets even more uncomfortable and embarrassed when he sees her undressing and getting him ready to take a bath with her.
He tries to look away in an attempt to not stare at her naked body he glances at a mirror which reveals all the answers he has been looking for. As he looks into the mirror he realizes that he has been turned into a dog. Trying to figure out what and how he should go about it, he is utterly confused.
She then takes him to her room and asks for a handshake, he understands the gesture and then acts accordingly. Not knowing the true identity of the dog she names him Pochita. (Chainsaw man fans crying in the corner).

My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog Episode 8 Recap: “Off to School.”
Pochita remembers receiving Valentine’s Day sweets from an enigmatic woman in a lab coat who claimed they were from Inukai. Before going to sleep and waking as a canine, he consumed one and sealed the box.
He comes to the conclusion that the cocoa is what changed him. When Inukai attempts to identify the dog as hers, a newly dressed Tsukishiro asserts that Senpai is hers because she gave him the name.
They choose to hold a competition to resolve it. The person whose skirt Pochita slides under will take him, so they spread their legs. He approaches Inukai, but Tsukishiro tempts him by placing a bone in her underwear.
The females violently kick each other, but he gets tripped up and falls under Tsukishiro. Nekotani, however, names Inukai the victor due to Tsukishiro’s dishonesty. He apologizes as they head home, but he adores Inukai more. This is not over, says Tsukishiro.
Pochita attempts to conceal herself in Inukai’s bag as she prepares for school with the intention of locating the woman in the lab coat. She captures him and informs him that dogs are not permitted in schools before deciding to take him after some pleading.
She chooses to stare at Pochita in her bag during class and is aloof with everyone, including the teacher. He panics when she brings him to the locker area for P.E. and he sees all the girls in different phases of undressing.
They engage in volleyball. He discovers she takes lunch by herself. The students develop concepts for an impending school celebration during another class. He leaps out of the bag when he sees the lab coat-wearing girl passing by, but the students capture him instead.
They are taken with his beauty and decide to have a cafe with a dog theme for the celebration after giving him belly rubs. Inukai grew incredibly envious of the focus the others were providing to Pochita.
