He plans to transfer the AFO quirk to someone else, possibly Deku, to fulfill his dream as he approaches Deku, Kurogiri intervenes, creating a portal to separate them. Shirakumo, wishing to protect Shigaraki, asks AFO to return Shigaraki, reminding him that his friends are waiting.
As Kurogiri begins to fade, Katsuki Bakugo arrives, propelled by Shoto’s ice ramp, and cheers Deku to finish AFO. Deku, despite his hatred for AFO, sees him as a lonely man rather than a monstrous demon.

Tomura Shigaraki, expressing his fear of being consumed by AFO, is saved from disappearing by Nana Shimura’s vestige. With AFO’s vestige gone, Shigaraki regains control of his body, but he is reduced to a crying child, unable to destroy anything.
In his final moments, Shigaraki asks Deku to tell Spinner that he fought to the end. Deku acknowledges that Shigaraki managed to destroy what was necessary.
