Directed by Kim Sung Yong and Han Joon, My Dearest is set in Joseon time when Korea was under the rule of King Injo. The drama depicts the love story of two unrequited lovers, Jang Hyun and Gil Chae, who faced hardships due to the ongoing war between the Jin and Qing Dynasty.

In the previous episode of My Dearest Gil Chae, he asks his husband Woo Moo to give her some daggers because she might need them, which shocks him. Then she reveals that when she was at Simyang, she was sold to foreign intruders, and it was Lord Lee Jang Hyun who released him from there.
Gil Chae bravely reveals that she loves Jang Hyun and that she now needs to divorce Woo Moo. She leaves the home. On his way, she is stopped by his ladies, but she says if she is gone, it will be good for everyone. Elsewhere, King Injo gets to know that one of his court persons has committed treason against him.
Sim Ki Won was the intruder and was creating his own private army. King Injo again finds himself in a tacky situation. On the other hand, Gil Chae moved out to a new place with one maid and a lost boy she met earlier.
She wondered how they would live now, but then some poor kids came to her for food. The kids then tell her how they went homeless because the foreign intruders killed their parents, and now they have nowhere to go or don’t know what to do.
Elsewhere, Jang Hyun and Gag Hwa were spending their time playing Baduk, but every time, Gag Hwa was losing the game. She then comes up with an arrow in which, if she wins, Jang Hyun has to serve her. Gag Hwa then goes on to ask Jang Hyun about the girl he usually says resembles her.
The episode ended with Jang Hyun finally getting to meet Gil Chae. Despite Gil Chae saying that foreign intruders took advantage of her, Jang Hyun hugs her and comforts her, saying it must have pained her a lot. Fans can finally expect the couple together again.
