Muv-Luv Alternative Season 2 Episode 5 is set to release upcoming week. There’s no doubt that Sci-Fi fans are thrilled to see Muv-Luv Alternative coming back with Season 2 of the anime. It tells an engaging story of humanity trying to survive the utter defeat of the world and relocating to space as their last option. A war against the BETA, an alien species that invaded the planet in 1973, has lasted three decades in Takeru Shirogane’s world.
We see in episode 4 that Upon meeting Meiya for their outing the following day, Takeru is shocked to learn that she seems to have lost all memories of him. Yuuko suggests that Takeru’s existence is erasing the memories of his friends since he is a “causality conductor.” Takeru tries to push Sumika away as he realizes he cannot interact with his friends anymore.
Sumika, however, refuses to leave him, sensing his pain. In addition to the alternative Marimo’s death, Takeru tells Sumika about his experiences in the alternative world and his attempts to save it. Assumika believes Takeru’s story, she assures him that she won’t forget him, and they kiss, confessing their love for one another.
Takeru is dismayed, however, when he finds out Sumika has also lost her memories of him. Later, Sumika is almost killed when the gym ceiling collapses on top of her. When Takeru realizes that his friends are at risk, he asks Yuuko to get rid of him, and she agrees. She then presents Takeru Sumika’s diaries, which demonstrate how she was using her diaries to remind herself of him even though she was losing her memory.
Muv-Luv Alternative Season 2 Episode 4 Review
The scenes in which Takeru and Yuuko examine Sumika’s journals and the one in which he converses with her in the park were two of episode 4’s best, in my opinion. Muv-Luv Extra could have made these two instances significantly better.
In this episode, Shirogane did a great job capturing the various emotions he was feeling. Throughout the episode, we see his character lose it several times. When Sumika is involved in an accident and begs to be erased, he also has to deal with everyone he knows, forgetting everything about him.
It’s wonderful that Yuuko is still there to let him know that he might be able to go back to the alternate world and undo all that has transpired since he returned. I had first assumed that this episode would mark the end of Takeru’s time in his home world, but I’m glad they kept things gradual once more.

About Muv-Luv Alternative Anime
The anime turns with Takeru Shirogane having a nightmare that shows mankind’s utter defeat. But what is surprising is that these nightmares come from his life in an alternative universe.
As a result of his memories and alternative life3 experiences- a program is implemented, dubbed Alternative V, where hundreds of thousands of people are sent into space to preserve humanity while the remaining billion endure a cruel fate of death.
