Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 3 is going to be the latest in the Fantasy-Action-Isekai Anime. The story follows the life of a young man who dies and reincarnates into a Fantasy world filled with Magic and Mystery. Before his reincarnation, the person was a 34-Year-Old shut-in who has never worked a day in his life. He knew his life was pathetic but he never did anything to improve his situation.
His last act in his world was sacrificing himself to protect a group of kids from getting hit by a Truck. This much has been the reason he was selected by the Human God. The Human God was the one who was responsible for his reincarnation. He was reborn as Rudeus Greyrat, the oldest son of the Greyrat household. From a very young age, he showed a great affinity for magic and could even do them without the need for chants.
However, as soon as he was getting a grip on things life threw him a curve ball. He was caught in a nationwide magical cataclysm that transported the nation’s population to random corners of the world. Not all of them were able to survive this ordeal. He was transported quite literally to the other side of the planet. His only companion was Eris Boreas Greyrat, his second cousin and magic student. Rudeus was hired as her tutor.
Half of the first season was Rudeus escorting Eris back to her hometown. He made several allies along the way and even gained a magic eye from a Demon Lord. But in the end, Eris also left him to pursue her dreams. Rudeus became extremely depressed because of her sudden exit from his life. At the moment he is trying to find his way back to his mother Zenith and his search has led him to the Duchy of Basherant.
He met Suzanne, the sub-leader of Counter Arrow on his way to the Duchy. And later he decided to take on a quest to kill some snow grizzlies with them. However, the mission goes sideways and Rudeus was just about ready to end it all. However, after seeing the others fighting to protect him he regains his composure, and in one fell swoop he takes out all the grizzlies using one giant fireball. Back in his room, he burns the lock of Eris’s hair he kept on his person as the first step to moving on.

Rudeus decided to get his life back on track and not be depressed anymore. He starts maintaining his health and has started working out more often. He started taking on more and more local quests to make a reputation for himself. He plans to make a lot of friends who would spread his name to lots of places and hopefully to Zenith as well. Furthermore, he maintained a good rapport with the members of Counter Arrow.
The townsfolk know Rudeus as Quagmire and he seems to be back to his cheery self. After getting back from a quest to shovel snow Rudeus runs into Sara who was there to ask him if he wanted to join them on a quest. Rudeus was happy to do so. Their quest was at Galgau Ruins where Snow Drakes reside. There were tasked with collecting the Snow Drake Scales that drop all over the area. A pretty straight forwards task right? Wrong.
Suddenly several Snow Drakes start pouring into the area. The rest of the members retreat while Rudeus tries to slow them down. He was having a hard time but Sara came to his assistance and the rest followed soon after. Furthermore, Stepped Leader and its members started appearing too, and together they took care of all the Snow Drakes. However, Stepped Leader seems to have misunderstood the situation.
They were at Ilbron Cave on a mission to kill the Snow Drakes. Little did they know Ilbron Cave and Galgau Ruins were connected. When they were under attack the snow drakes fled to the Galgau Ruins where they ran into Counter Arrow. After the misunderstanding was cleared they head back. Sara asks Rudeus to stay back as there were going to celebrate the successful completion of the mission. Rudeus obliged.
But things turned sour soon after as the man from before came to apologize for what happened at Galgau Ruins. But it turned sour as he started laying into Rudeus for half-assing the mission. Things got worse yet again as Rudeus finds out that Mimir, Counter Arrow’s Healter Mage is dead and that Sara is missing and is presumed dead. They got separated after getting attacked by a pack of snow buffalos.
The possibility of Sara being alive was enough for Rudeus to jump into action. He heads out almost immediately. He found the snow buffalos that attacked them and was able to take care of them with minimal effort. He found the remains of Mimir and an earring that belonged to Sara. Rudeus assumed the worst but that was not the case. Sara was being held hostage by a mysterious creature.
Rudeus was able to kill the beast and rescue Sara. They spend the night in a cave where Rudeus healed Sara of all her injuries. The day after they head back into town. The remaining members of Counter Arrow were pleased to see that Sara was over. However, Suzanne scolded Rudeus for his reckless behavior as it could have resulted in both their deaths. But Sara defended him and Suzanne apologized for her outburst.

The bond between Counter Arrow and Rudeus has grown deeper with this incident. Timothy was in tears while thanking Rudeus for bringing back Sara safe and sound. Rudeus tells us how much they helped him get over his depressive episodes. The episode ended with Rudeus’s promise to work more jobs with Counter Arrow. Though he is not an official member yet he is pretty darn close to it. In the next episode we should be able to see Rudeus along with Counter Arrow take on more challenging quests.
